Camaro SS or Mustang GT
1st post, not a brand loyalist. Looking to buy another car by the end of the year. Need one that I can mainly keep stock other than CAI, tune and maybe exhaust. Need a car we can just jump in and go without worrying about rain with drag radials like my other 2 cars.
Tested a Premium GT and a PP Premium GT yesterday and plan on trying out a SS maybe this week. I actually preferred the non PP GT due to the transmission gearing. It had 3.31 gears and the PP car had 3.73's. Overall I was very impressed with the cars inside and out. The engine really felt strong and really wakes up and loves to rev, pulls hard to redline. Interior was better than I expected, 12 speaker sound system thumped pretty good. Visibility was pretty good from all angles and I'd say it's a well balanced car. Totally different animal than my '06 GT. Has anybody here driven a '16 SS yet? What I'm mainly interested in is visibility compared to my '11 SS which pretty much sucks. I know the car will perform well and the ride will be stiffer than the stang. Gonna pull the trigger here soon, just need to drive the Chevy and looking for some input. |

I'm sure you can guess what most people will say on this site.

Yeah, maybe I want some arm twisting, but it's going to come down to which car I like better.

If you want a new car by the end of the year, get the GT. Otherwise if you are willing to wait, deal with a terrible tracking system and third party logistics, and receive your car sometime next year... get the SS.

This^^^^. Get what you want and can afford. The SS is a bit more money but has many more standard features over the mustang. The performance is much better than the GT as you might know already.

I'd vote for you waiting to at least drive the 2016 SS before you buy the Mustang GT. The Alpha platform sounds like a huge refinement improvement over the Gen5 Camaro. The Gen6 is putting down some impressive numbers...12.4 sec 1/4 mile. 0-60 in 4.0sec. With mpg ratings that tie/beat the 5.0. Wait to drive the 2016 gen6 to at least give yourself a chance to make an informed decision.

I definitely want to drive one before making a decision. If I get the SS the '11 may get sent down the road. I really just want to know how the visibility is compared to gen 5 cars.

I really thought about waiting for the 2016 ss, but I got a great deal on my pp gt. With 0% for 6 years on top of that, it was a great choice for me. I really like my car, it's been a blast, no regrets. My wife drives a 15 gt auto, so we both drive white 15 mustang gt cars. Fun.
I'm very excited for y'all with the new Camaro, it looks to be awesome!! I may look into one in a few years, or just mod mine.

The Camaro SS beats The Mustang GT in looks alone. It's not even close. The sixth gen IS light years ahead. Why may you ask? because of a TOTAL re-design. Paving the way for BETTER performance, BETTER looks and BETTER handling. Tech., wise we can call that even because pretty much anybody can put ambient light in a vehicle, apple car play (or close to it),etc.,,.....The Camaro took over the total sales lead in 2010 from the Mustang and held that thru 2014. In 2015 mustang re-took the lead. Now with the new sixth gen, the Camaro will again rise to the occasion.
