Vibration from rear of car under acceleration
So I bought a 2010 SS camaro a few days ago and I notice I have a pretty bad vibration from the rear of the car when I accelerate at 50+ mph. I can throw it in neutral at anytime and rev it from 70-100mph and never get the vibration. It's only when the car is in gear and under acceleration. It does not do it with the cruise set at any speed only acceleration.
So this leads me to believe it can't be engine related, wheel related, or exhaust related. It must be something in the driveline I jacked the car up and can't see anything wrong. It appears all the bolts are tight and can't see that anything is bent. So my guess is the driveshaft is bent or out of balance or one of the axles is bent? Anybody have this problem? Let me know what you think! |

Stock driveshaft, could be the carrier bearing while under load

I'm bad with anything tranny back cuz I rarely have had to screw with driveline stuff, but is carrier bearing in the middle of the stock 2-piece drive shaft? I can get a driveshaft off a wrecked 40k miles SS that was hit in the front for $90 so I may go get it and switch them out and see what happens. |

Possibly a bad CV in the axle(s)...worn/torn boot. Bad ball and cages.

Thanks! This was my problem I got the exhaust off to get a better look at bolts and sure enough 2 bolts were loose! in case everybody has this problem. If you have a vibration in the rear check the rear bolts very good. If you have vibration in the middle or front check the front ds bolts good.

Glad it wasn't more serious. I used red locktite so maybe it won't do it again

For reference, those bolts, and just about every other bolt on the car, are TTY.
Definately want to go with locktite or new bolts.

Replace failed bolts and nuts. No locktite is specified so I did not use it.
The replacement parts seem to have been revised as they look different than production line pieces. Be sure it is done right by doing it yourself - It is not hard or expensive. Use a beam type torque wrench (not a clicker) so you can see it as you sneak up in the setting. Follow the torque to yield specs in the service manual as the spec varies depending on the bolt location. I have had failures on the front bolts and the rear bolts years ago. Since I replaced the broken ones myself, it has never happened again. This is a supercharged, baby cam, custom tune 520 HP stick shift car that gets plenty of spirited use. I do not trust the dealer to do this job right. If you quiz them, they know very little about it. Just my $.02 for free. |

Yep - sticky tires will seek out and destroy everything that was marginal to begin with. Open up the wallet and give Gforce a call.
