Thumbs up Camaro ZL1 Charter Owners

This is to serve up the idea that a Camaro ZL1 Charter Owner's group be considered.

The ZL1 Charter Owners's (ZL1 CO's) is a concept that might possibly serve as a platform for ZL1 owners to share and organize their passion, joy, enthusiasm, issues and concerns, and help in and out of the Camaro5 community. Initially it would offer participation to all 2012 model year delivery recipients, but because it will be a "short" year, possibly should be extended to include the first 6 months of 2013 deliveries. Later ZL1 owners could participate as "affiliate owners" even if they are not Charter Owner's. Their monicker would be "ZL1 AO's" = Affililate Owners. I view this as more of a sub-chapter of the Camaro5 community, the CamaroFest Community, possibly an input arm to the Camaro Team and can also see how the ZL1 owners could "give back" in other meaningful ways.

Please do not view this as a selfish endeavor on my part. It is NOT "that".

Wouldn't it have been nice to be able to look back to 1969 to know who purchased the 1969 ZL1's, read or listen to them (via video) share the passion and excitement they had, what influenced them in their day, what they did with their vehicles, how their families got involved, how the factory got involved, and what became of them as time went on!

I can envision Camaro5 and the GM Camaro Team providing organizational sponsorship/guidance from the technical, awarness, and general support level and I can see the ZL1 Owners "giving" back in untold ways (as mentioned above).

If you think this is a worthy endeavor, please give it consideration. I am sure there are others who would dive in on this with me. If the idea gets enough support, I am sure some key folks would join forces to make it happen.

In your comments please discuss if the CO's should be limited to 2012 deliveries or extended and how long?

Feedback / Opinions from ALL appreciated... regardless of whether you will own a ZL1 or not!

I think it's a good idea. However, I think that 2012 and 2013 ZL1s (the first 18 months of ZL1 production) should be included due to the short 2012 production run caused by the 2012 midyear production start, and including 2013 models will allow the inclusion of convertibles as well. Remember that the 1969 Camaro production run was extended to 16 months due to Fisher Body's problems producing the 1970 model's quarter panels, which delayed the 1970 Camaro launch by about five months.

Great idea/insight GoldenBear!! Yes!! I think it would make for a hell of a "First Graduating Class" at the "new" School.... (speaking of School, we need OldSchool too). I think your proposal could get some meaningful support that way too! Excellent!!
