According to Ralph Gilles, President of Dodge (who appeared on Wind Tunnel last nite on SPEED), no final decisions regarding future Vipers have been put to bed, but "considerations" continues...

There is no Ferrari V10, they make V8's and V12's. Lamborghini makes V10s (and helped Chrysler with the original Viper engine) but they're owned by VW now.

Thats not very encouraging. If there are only considerations at this point, it could be quite a while before we see another Viper.

I suspect Chrysler/Fiat have better places for development buck$ than a low-volume "halo" at this very point in time...although their impressive increase June-over-June may get them there a lil bit sooner...

Their June vs June gains were only made possible by the fact that June 2009 was absolutely horrendous, it was 42% drop vs an average drop in the high 20's for the rest of the industry.

But you are right about better places to spend money. In the late 80's, they were known for making economy cars, so they went and built a performance car. Now, Dodge is largely known for making performance cars and need economy cars.

One of the jalopnik posters was right... we'll see this car in 30 years with 10 miles on it up for auction for $1 million plus.
