Holden is dead!

That's too bad, always loved the Holden cars. You poor Australians can't seem to catch a break.

"The US carmaker expects to take a $1.1 billion financial hit from the retreat, roughly $300 million of which will be a cash loss."
Yet ANOTHER reason to have not bailed out GM. I'm a GM guy through and through, but this quoted statement from the article is just plain DUMB. All in an effort to focus on electric and autonomous vehicles. Give me a Commodore Ute and call it a Chevy El Camino! I'd LOVE to have one of those! Pair it with a LS3 or LSA and a 6 speed and we've got a fun ride!

Yeah me too. I don't think those cars will ever truly depreciate. The absolute sleeper car. I remember crossing the Howard Frankland Bridge from St. Petersburg to Tampa one day. Had a lady that must have been near 60 years old playing with me in her orange Holden badged SS. That thing was a beast and she knew it! I think I was happier just knowing that she knew what she was driving.
I sold my 1995 LT-1 Trans Am like 2 months before Pontiac was axed. I have been kicking myself every day since.

It is a very sad start to 2020 with our iconic and much loved Holden brand being discontinued. I worked at a Holden dealer for 9 years and my family has owned many Holdens over the years, unfortunately they have not met the Australian market and have had trouble competing against other manufacturers. This will have a huge effect on our V8 Supercar racing as the Ford v Holden rivalry has been going for decades and this sport has a huge fan base, Nissan and Mercedes joined the championship and only lasted a few years.
RIP Holden ⚰️ |
