How hard to keep satin Factory Reproduction wheels clean?

Are they hard to keep clean looking being satin colored?

With the stock brake pads my gloss black were impossible to keep looking clean. Even a short drive they were so dusty. Changed to hawk pads, these made a huge improvement I can drive and it takes quite awhile to notice any dust on them.

actually not hard at all......just remember, they are clear coated. So all you need to do is treat them like any other painted surface, piece of cake!

I don't have the Brembos on my RS and I have to say that the brakes don't shed much dust. I can drive all week without having to clean the wheels (Midnight Silver).

Thanks for the replies. My polished wheels don't seem to get too dirty from break dust (non Brembo's). Thinking about getting some satin black style 41's and was wondering about that. I didn't realize the style 41's were clear coated too.

oops.....not sure the factory satins were clear coated.....however, just like CHMSC mentioned......simple soap and water works like a champ.

My stock rims didn't show much but after I got the black rims it really showed up especially since it was a brownish color

Very easy to clean compared to my Forgestar F14s and TSW Nurburgrings. Those wheels I mentioned are a PIA to clean compared to the ZL1 style wheels.

I just bought some FR style 41's in Satin black and wonder if there is any harm if they are cleaned with products, other than soap and water?? I go to my local hand-wash place sometimes and don't want them to clean them with anything that may harm the finish.

I have the ZL1 Factory Reproductions in Aluminum with HPS pads on Brembo brakes and surprisingly enough they are not getting dirty under track day use. Very surprised as the stock rims did get dirty with the same setup.

This has been covered in another thread but I coated my with Optimum Gloss coat which should last a good 2years. It deepened the color but did not leave them glossy at all. When I drive, if they do get wet by the time I drive it home....all the water and dirt has flown off as it doesn't stick to the rims. It has been recommended to was them with car soap and water only.

I put Zaino Clear Seal on mine... Might try that optimum next. Stock pads dust like mad!

I use quick detail spray (meguires or Zaino Z6) on mine with a microfiber. Good to go.
