That only proves you don't like to go around corners, brake, top end faster than 180 MPH, or get good fuel mileage, you know all around performance, why would you brag about buying a lesser car?

blah blah blah. there was no need for bashing. this is C5 z06 vs a 5th gen ss camaro. he just said he picked that as an example of cross shopping different cars. so since this is about a vette and a camaro, there should really be no bashing at all. both are amazing cars in my opinion. and i like both cars, but at this point in my life, id have to give the edge to the slower less sporty camaro.

i crossed shopped at used C6 and a 2010 camaro, and came up with a 2LT RS...i think its the best choice for a college kid. IMO

pfft well obviously you havent known many blown mustang owners...

all it takes is a pully swap to make 3000 + horsepower at the wheels, and also the ability to poor brass tacks into the intake allowing the car to effectivly shoot hand grenades out the tailpipe at the competition.

Id say Z06 definatly outrun new camaro but as far as good ride every Vette I ever owned or drove rode like log wagons compared to my new camaro! this thing doesnt ride like a sports car it rides as nice as my lincoln continenal I used to own and that was one of best riding cars I ever owned. Its such a smooth ride!

is it really that big of a deal that a $70+g car is a little faster than a $30g car?

of course it's faster. it'd be a pretty stupid car if it wasn't now, wouldn't it?

the whole point of the camaro is that I, the average joe, can actually buy a car that is fast and looks wicked sick, while getting good mileage, too.

if you got the money, don't care about mileage, want that little extra speed, and think that the corvette looks better than the camaro, by all means go ahead and get a corvette and enjoy it. but saying that a z06 can "smoke" a camaro's ass is just stating the absurdly obvious.

A 2002-04 and even the 385hp 2001 Z06 should beat a '10 SS in every measurable performance category. Driver and conditions being on par of course for both.

Those cars now have to be some of the best performance bargains on the used car market today.

-The 2010 Camaro is not an F-body like the Camaro and Firebird were from 1967 to 2002. GM doesn't use that nomenclature on their platforms anymore and has moved to Greek alphabet like Zeta, Sigma and Delta.
Although I still think the Corvette is technically a Y-Body as that has designated sports car, Front engine/2 seat/RWD.

I have an 01 Z 06 daily driver. With 91k miles on it and it can still pull down 12 second quarters at test and tune nights. It gets 30 mpg getting there and can pull 1g corners with ease. Also insurance discounts are great. I went from a 03 Mustang Mach 1 to the Z 06 and knocked off 400 dollars a year. Last time I weighed mine it came in at 3053 lbs.

That being said the Camaro and Z 06 are two totally different cars. The Camaro is a great car. The Z 06 is a great car. they are just different for different uses.

Vette vs Camaro

I have a 1998 vette with 505rwhp and fast as hell. I also have a 2010 Camaro SS and it is a totally different car, even though it is bad as hell also. The only problem is deciding which car to drive in the morning!!
