Just signed up for my FIRST tack day!

OK so I just signed up for my first track day. NJ Motorsports Park May 7th HDPE 1. Screwed up and waited to long and Saturday was full. I'm real excited. and a little intimidated.

I have a pretty goo handle on what I need to take as far as tools and such.

My question is how do you put your car number on your car?

Is it possible to get numbers that are use static to stick to the car and if so where get them?

Also where do the numbers need to be on the car?

Thanks
Craig

I'm really looking forward to reading this thread. I'm considering doing a track day as well. I've never even seen one. I've always been a straight line guy.

How much did it cost you if you don't mind saying.

What are you bringing with you as far as tools and spare parts and stuff.

My first track day is tomorrow at Palm Beach International! Would like to know the answers as well. In autocross I just used blue painters tape to put the number on my car so I'm not sure if its the same.

Just did a track day at NCM last weekend with MVP track time and they supply the car number in either green for advance, yellow for intermediate, and red for novice and we were told to stick them in front of the rear view mirror on the windshield. I'm sure each sponsor does it a different way.

They "should" have numbers you can buy there. Lots of guys just use painters tape, at least for NASA events.

You're going to have an absolute blast

Painters Tape or Magnetic numbers work best on a budget

I would caution against the magnetic numbers on a track day. Auto-cross yes, track day no, as they can fly off at speed and then you lose them (they aren't cheap). One thing you can do if you're hell-bent on using the magnetic numbers is tape the leading edge with painters tape. Prevents the wind from getting up in there and ripping them off.

I've never lost Numbers because I've used better Mag material. Some Sponsor Stickers on cheaper Mag I've lost.

Good Idea of Painters Tape on the Leading Edge

Not taking much as far as tools.

I'll trailer my car. I do that as a precaution just incase I have an issue.

Tools will be a basic socket set, torque wrench, tire pressure gauge, air tank, jack & jack stands.

Other items, chairs, cooler & water, sandwiches, pop-up awning, towel & I will most likely think of a few other items.

That covers it well actually. Throw some sun-block in there and you're all set.

all the hpde's I've done had the numbers supplied by the school. I've seen the cling style numbers fly off on several occasions. I have them for autocross but wouldn't trust them to stay on at 140mph

Kinda bumping this thread. How did the track day go?

I am heading out to the track night tomorrow at NJMP, hoping the forecast improves rain wise.

The last time I was on a track was almost 20 years ago in something that was half the weight and a 3rd of the HP, a Miata.

Did a local auto-cross yesterday to try and get a feel for the car at speed in a relatively safe environment.

My track day was GREAT!

It was at NJMP Thunder Track, it was run by Chin Motorsports.

Lots of track time great instructor. I would highly recommend Chin to anyone looking for track time.

Car ran great. I ran the whole track in 4th gear! Tons of low end torque to pull out of the corners.

I kept throwing the car into the corners harder and harder and it just took it.

My last session at the end of the front straight entering turn one my break peddle hit the floor but I made the corner OK.

I have the parts to upgrade to the ZO6 front brakes. I'll also go to better brake fluid and separate the brake/clutch master cylinder.
