Just saw his 40th anniversary concert (and it was awesome!).

Definitely one of my favorites.

Gone way too early... RIP

I was so saddened by this & I'm not one to fuss about passing celebrities. I have listened to and loved Tom Petty since I was about 16 or 17 & am nearing 55 now. I finally saw him for the first time this past July at an outdoor concert where I live and it was awesome.

My only disappointment from that show was he didn't sing the song Southern Accents which I think is a wonderful heartfelt tune but I did listen to it last night a few times with a beer & some watery eyes.

RIP Tom you were truly one of the greatest of all time!

He was smart, active in, and proud of his beliefs (hell no he won't back down) and one hell of a musician.
