NHRA Rules vs Window Tint

I have an opportunity to do some 1/8-mile "Street Drags" at our local-area dragstrip this weekend. Rules state that window tint must be within local spec. Mine are not. Knowing that a lot of us share that in common, have those of you that race been hassled at the track over this rule? For $10 I get to thrash the Camaro a little bit, but I don't want to pony up only to fail the inspection.

Well a rule is a rule so I guess they can shut you down but I've never seen anyone get in trouble or not allowed to run. More than half the cars are blacked out. I wouldn't worry at all.

I've seen people get disqualified over it before, but that's only because someone complained about it. This was also in a race bracket where someone stood a chance to win some serious cash...

And another thing to think of, some tracks are more strict than others. All depends on the safety official on the strip at the time.

Only seen issues at road courses (driver behind you has to see out of your windshield)

At my track they don't hassle anyone about tint. People racing in shorts and flip flops keep the officials busy enough.

Thanks for the input, guys. I think I'm going to give it a try. I should get at least one run in.

Never heard of anyone getting kicked out for that... but I guess it's possible. I have 10% and local law is 20%

I haven't had an issue with it. As long as they aren't super strict, you should be fine.
