Wheel Spacer size for SS? /To Allow use of stock 1LT Spare
Hi,
After reading many threads was wondering if I used Wheel spacer/adapter dimensions: Bolt Pattern 120 MM to 120 MM exactly (reading that a 4.75 inch or 120.7 MM is not correct for Camaro) 14 X 1.50 Studs 2.3" Thick ... Will a spacer of this size allow me to clear the SS Brembo roller skates using the 2013 1LT factory spare set from my previous car? Will this allow using the spare on front or back in a pinch? (Realizing size mis-match in the back can only be done for very short distance due to wear on differential -- must only use spare in front for longer distance). Thanks, Ron |

I ended up with a 2.5" spacer for mine. It Also clears the CTSV calipers, close but it is ok

Here is the closest spacer/adapter I've seen so far and hoping would work: Center Bore: 66.9 mm Thickness: 2.3" (58.42 mm) Studs: 14x1.50 Stud/Bolt Pattern: 120 mm / 120 mm Would you please let me know the center bore on your Camaro's spacer/adapter? Also, The one above I'm looking to purchase is 2/10" thinner, is that adequate? Goal is to try and stay with the stock Spare Tire, wheel, and jack set that I kept from my 2013 Camaro 1LT and use that for the SS. Many adapters out there that vendors are listing for the Camaro SS are 4.75" or 120.7 mm and I've read that is not the exact size Camaro needs; it actually needs 120 mm for precise safe fit. Thanks, Ron |

Spacer thickness
Hey Ron
I got my spacer from www.adaptitusa.com (317-856-1810), I gave them a call and they were very helpful. they will make whatever you want/need a spacer that is 5 X 120 to 5 X 120 (1.75in thick) with 14 X 1.50 studs is needed to clear 4 piston (stock SS) brembo calipers without the "roller skate" pads (earlier model years) you will need to make it 2.5in thick so the spare will clear the later model roller skate brake pads. it also clears the CTS-V brakes on my car part # for the GM donut wheel (18x4) I used was #92230888, I think this is the 2013 wheel but I am not positive the wheels on our Camaros are hub centric. I don't recall the ID of the adapter, but the one I got from adaptit fits fine. it is not real tight on the hub, but I won't be running on it long and for sure will not be putting stress loads on it from cornering. I would be comfortable if the adapter was stud centric. here's a picture of how close my spare (with the 2.5in spacer) is to the roller skates before I upgraded to the 6 piston calipers

Did not realize they could make a custom one for precise fit to match exactly what Camaro needs via special order. Will check on that. Thanks for the Pic showing the clearance of roller skates to wheel edge - looks like the gap is way plenty big on the 2.5 inch thick adapter/spacer. By the way, I like your pre-2014 taillights better then the RS LED ones that arrived on the new 2014 (should have swapped back ends when I traded in my 2013, ha ha! New Red Hot color is about identical to the Victory Red of my old trade - so they may not have noticed the swap). Ron |

be sure to note that the clearance is on the side of the roller.........not on the OD. the clearance is quite close
personal preference I like the 13 (that's why I have one)............the 14/15 lights are growing on me though

I have a related question - I have the 19" wheels on my 2010, I keep 2 sets (winter/summer). If I ever traded for the SS I would try to keep my snow set, and if I ever upgrade to the Brembos I'd like to keep my wheels.
Is the roller skate the only clearance issue? I thought you could actually remove the roller skates? Would a set of the stock 19" wheels fit over the Bremos w/o the roller skate or would there be a clearance issue on the inside of the wheel?

Ordered adpater/spacer from a company that also customizes to exact dimensions I needed.
http://store.gaugemagazine.com/5-x-1...l-adapter.aspx Per specs others have helped with via reading other threads, and advice from h018871 ... this adapter/spacer should allow the 2013 Camaro OEM Stock Spare tire and jack set I kept from my 1LT to work on my new 2014 2SS/RS with Brembo Roller Skates. Here are the Specs I included with the order ... Bolt Pattern: 5 x 120mm to 5 x 120mm Center Bore: 66.9 MM (Camaro is Hubcentric, center bore should fit tight to the hub) Studs: 1.5 14mm (American Made, Heat Treated, SAE Approved, OEM quality studs pressed into the adapters) Spacer Thickness: 2.5" (exactly) (it is 2.3" up to bevels on each edge, adding in the bevels it is a full 2.5" thick spacer, see picture with the ruler taped to side below) When ordering I specified the car does not use Lug Bolts. The five special lug nuts the spacer arrives with, have long collars on them which self center when attaching the spacer to the hub (see pic), locks the collars in to spacer very tightly. When the weather breaks here in NC I'll try this to see if dimensions work out -- keeping my fingers crossed. Will update in next window when I get a chance to test. Order Arrived - here are pics: Front Surface Side Back Surface - notice all edges on the spacer are nicely beveled. Lug_Nuts_with_long_Collar 14mm x 1.5 (thread) --- for attaching spacer to hub on car Weekend is here! Sunday Weather Cleared, almost 60 degrees ... went out to test fit the Wheel Adapter/Spacer ... Pulled the lug wrench, jack assembly, spare tire, torque wrench, etc. out of the trunk. Here is picture of Stock Hub BEFORE Wheel Adapter/Spacer install. Note the center hub has a collar that sticks out (66.9 mm diameter) - Camaro is Hubcentric. Put a doubled-up cloth on the top of scissor jack so it wouldn't scape up the lip on the car's jack point. This shows the wheel adapter/spacer installed on the car's hub. It fits precisely over the hub flange, no play, it is not loose at all. Probably would stay on there without even using the lug nuts, ha ha. View from another angle - in a previous picture it shows the special wide collar lug nuts that will hold this in place. To torque you can put a screwdriver in a slot in the rotor to keep from turning. Installed spare wheel/tire from my 2013 1LT on to the 2014 Camaro 2SS In the first picture here I used the factory Camaro SS wheel lugs - rather large Didn't seem right with those lug nuts so I grabbed some smaller profile lug nuts from spare parts bin. Well turns out I only had 4 smaller lug nuts in the parts bin - so one stud is bare. Next I spun the tire and it moved freely. Put my hand around back and felt 1/4" space between the outer Brembo roller skates and wheel flange. The 2.5" wide Adapter/Spacer is just the right width as h018871 recommended. Unfortunately, I did not get to test drive. Had to go pick up the kids so quickly put the full-size tire back on. Need to also pick up another lug nut. I'm still trying to figure out what lug nuts are best to use on that factory spare wheel (has same size 14mm 1.5 studs on the wheel adapter/spacer as the factory Camaro hub) Ron Last edited by ron123; 01-18-2015 at 04:55 PM. |
