Engine Compartment Badge

"Chevrolet Performance Division"

Is there a meaning to an aluminum plaque that is inside the engine compartment, just in front of the radiator of my 2013 Camaro SS/RS LS3 that states "Chevrolet Performance Division". The other guys at the cruise nights, seem to think that it designates a higher performance engine. Mine is the only Camaro that has this plate in the engine compartment. The plaque is about 1"x3" in size.

Does anyone have any idea as to the significance of this plaque?

Does not show up on V6 models.

Now before the bad vibes, I have owned a V6 and miss the damn car.

It's just a plaque, doesn't make your engine special. Most SS have them...
