For those with leather interior
Seat covers on your leather..what do you think? I told my husband we should cover them to protect, he says no way, what's the point of having leather if you're gonna cover it up, just keep it clean and use liquid leather protector.
Just curious what anyone here thinks, or has done.... thanks!

No thanks, I am with your husband, kind of defeats the purpose of having leather seats.

I agree with your husband. I paid the money for the leather, why would I cover it up? I'm willing to put in that extra effort to keep the nice and clean.

If your leather gets old and starts to wear, THEN cover it up.
Why not just cut holes in the front of a car cover and drive it like that so you don't get the paint messed up? I agree with him, enjoy the leather. Take care of it and it will last. |

So funny, because my husband generally takes care of my car (he never really drives it, and though he really likes the Camaro, he prefers the Ricers and hopes to get an Evo someday..but I still love him anyway LOL!)
when we were having the discussion about the seat covers, he said to me "I bet if you ask your friends over at the Camaro forum you're always on, most of them will agree with me..no covers on leather!" Well, he was right!

Clean and condition properly and often. No need to cover it up. Grab a sunshade for the windshield and it will be fine for years to come.
If it looks bad years later, then cover it up. |

You really should start listening to your husband more... But you need to steer him away from the evo!
I have 12000 miles and my leather shows zero signs of wear. I clean it frequently and condition it every 3 or 4 months. |

Leather seats. I think seat covers are only necessary for older cars with ripped cloth seats.=D

You bought it to drive it, not cover it up. No covers.

I have leather interior and my driver's left "hugger" is already cracking from wear and I've only got 5500 miles on it. Definitely need some leather conditioner and possibly getting seat covers. I'm not totally against the idea of covers. Rather have covers than a seat that constantly is getting worn in and begins to look like 10 year old leather. (No I do not wear belts or anything on that side so it is only from getting in and out, and I don't rub it getting out much since I'm 6'2" and my seat is pretty far back) However since I'm sure this is not a really HIGH quality leather within 5-8 years I think I'll reupholster the seats, possibly modding the stitching... |

Eactly as your husband says
If you plan to keep the car for shows etc and want it to be pristine - then I guess covers could be an idea - but why buy a car with really nice upholstery and then sit on covers.... Regular treatment with decent leather cleaner / conditioner is a good plan It will wear over time and you may get scratches etc as part of normal wear and tear - but we were just looking at the IOM interior today and my wife was commenting how it really pulls the car together. If there were covers on it - it would just not be the same

I agree with your husband 100% on the leather. I've never seen the point of people covering up their seats (leather or otherwise) with ill fitting, crappy looking (in my opinion at least) covers just so they can look brand new when they go to sell or trade it in later.
Keep it clean, conditioned and enjoy the stock look.
