since you are so far off from buying a vehicle... it might be intereting to see what happened when the new 2011 mustang comes out with ther new tt v6.
the hp and tq are so closed to the v8 mustang that we may see a newer more powerful 5.0 liter v8... with all the new handling package that ford have done to the mustang.. it make be a better deal to buy
I have a 2006 v6 air to water intercooler supercharger mustang and have upgraded the to 2009 suspension parts that are easy to get thru the take off market..... it a fun car to drive and is a sleeper to have fun with...... i will keep it for ever.... how ever i will be buying a camaro it 2012.... waitting for a 2012 convertible.....it hard to pick just one vehicle ... each have their only good and bad points.... 2012 vehicles could be completely differnt......

I'd just wait. Much bigger and better things await the GT500. Plus, you could get a slightly used 2010 for considerably cheaper sometime next year.

Sweet car - but make sure you factor in insurance rates.

I hope it sells extremely well, so I'd never discourage anyone from buying one. The more stock HP the dealers sell, the better competitive selection we all get down the road.

You can't go wrong either way. GT500 is a great car. You get a built engine and can have between 600 - 700 rwhp with relativly low cost. It looks and handles great.

I say go with what will make YOU happy, not what will make anybody else happy .. in the end that is what counts.

I wouldn't consider a mustang untill the 2011/12 come out. New coyote V8, and who knows what they're going to do to the GT500. The camaro is a great car now, but Fords going to bring up some real competition here within a year or so. It doesn't sound like your loyal to any one company so your going to have to wait and see.

Hell I'm in the same shoes you're in buddy.I won't be making my purchase until May 2010 when i get out of basic training.
I'm considering....
03-04 SVT Cobra
05-11 Mustang GT
07-11 Shelby GT500(new and used)
C6 Z06(if i can find one under 40k)
C6 Vette
6.0L GTO
2010 Camaro
300C SRT8
Charger SRT8
E46 M3
Benz E55 AMG
2010 Challenger R/T
2010 Challenger SRT8(If i can find one under 40k by that time)
2008 Ford F-350 Powerstroke
SVT LIGHTNING

Hell a local ford dealer has an old school 1970 Olds 442 for sale.don't know how much or if the numbers match.(It has the badging on it,might be a clone) but what's preventing me is I like to listen to my music cd's espically when nothing is on the radio and an old school ride with no cd player retrofit is a turn off to me
