OK, I read some of that thread and it does seem driver mod was not the case. What surprised the crap out of me is on the 3rd gear runs the GT500 pulled 1/2 a car on the start and just stayed there till 180. I would have thought after 120 the Z would have at least switched places with the GT500. Another surprise is in second it was the Z that jumped out 1/2 a car in front as expected but the GT500 gained on it in 3rd and the end result was 1/2 a car winner GT500. Not fully doubting what happened but definitly want video on the next run.

Why wouldn't it be in play at all times?

On the dyno you rev it out
At the track you rev it out
on the highway you rev it out

Impressive numbers by the Shebly. Now lets see how well the ZL1 can hang with the Shebly in the twisties, screw 1/4 test we all know the shelby has our Z beat by a long shot in that category.

I look at it this way......Headers and cai and that gap will shrink a bit.
But you cant fault Ford for doing it right the first time...........and tons of options as well. Have you even been able to order headers, cai, gears etc from GM? I dont think so. LOL, but you can buy a painted to match engine shroud for $380 or a sub for $1200 or an axel back exhaust for $1500....WOW! What a bargan!

The GT500 does NOT have factory headers. It uses regular looking cast iron manifolds.

Maybe you are getting it confused with factory tubular manifolds used on the 5.0L.

IMO the Shelby would have problems on a road course if it were more than one bonzi lap. I think there would be a problem with the weight balance, the having Brembo's in front only, and a driver that can't manage their right foot and stay out of the over rev.

If I owned a ZL1 or speculated negatively towards the GT500, I would keep silent and not a make fool out of myself (again). You don't have to be a genius to realize the ZL1 is hands down, is outperformed by the GT500. Looks, and feel will of course be subjective. Its just funny to now see the main excuse of "ZL1 will take it in cornering" (which of course, you will rarely see with any ZL1 owner). What happened to all of the previous users here, that said "too bad that it wont be able to hook up with 650HP", when clearly that isn't the issue with the new GT500. If you're true Camaro enthusiast, then you don't need to prove to anyone, which is the better car. I drive a 97 SS (which I purchased new). At that time, the new F-body was the king of performance between itself and the Mustang. I have debated about the new ZL1 and the GT500, but personally, I still think the Boss 302 is best "bang for your buck", all around performer.

Lets wait and see before we start bench racing. Ford played alot with the suspension and there keeping there mouth quiet leading me to believe the car will speak for itself on the road course.

My 97 SS lives on the track these days. The new Camaro ZL1 has everything against it, based off the facts - Bad Heat soak, overweight (understeer issues), with much less power. The MR suspension will not make up for those three "BIG" problems, in regards to competing with the GT500 (regarless of drag or road course racing).

I have no problem admitting that stock Boss 302's are gettings fast lap times, then my fully track prepped 97 SS. Does it bother me? Heck no, I still have the time of my life! There will always be someone bigger and better, then you.

Except for the Boss I agree 100%. Also if you look back like before the GT500 was released but after the GT500 specs were released I said the GT500 was going to eat the ZL1 alive. It pains me to say that but facts are facts and you can't overcome the power to weight ratio.
