After just driving the coupe, I'm getting that 16 Vert.

Let's wait & see what those prices include when we build it on the Chevy website. It may be that they have some options included that may be optional on coupes (hopefully).

And that's if these prices are even real. Once it's on the Chevy site I'll believe it.

Those prices really don't sound too terrible. About $7000 difference in the trim levels from coupe to vert.

Nope...and with the improvements they made:

- Automatic drop/raise from key fob
- Electronic lock on top (no latch to turn)
- Drop top while going 35 or less
- Built in hard cover
- roof on outside of car (no need for water management bag)

This is worth the $4000 difference from the Gen5's (original was $5000 more than base)

Yep... I was playing around on supplier pricing earlier today. $11k difference for me in what I'd get from a Gen 6 to a C7. (2SS vert vs 2LT coupe - can pull the top of the C7 is good enough for me)

According to the Chevy site, the price difference between a 2015 coupe and vert is 7500. Technically, you save 500 on the upgrade cost. However, the base 2ss 2015 starts at 43,400. The main difference between the 2015 2ss and the 2016 2ss is that the car comes almost fully loaded. From what I have seen (not counting customization), the only available options on the 2ss is mag ride, dual mode exhaust and auto trans.

In full disclosure, I did order a 2016 2ss vert. However, after the issues with unfixable leaks in my 2011 and a dealership employee wrecking my car and causing 11k worth of damage, I am getting a great deal on the car. If it was not for this, I would be waiting a couple years and then picking up a used 2016 or 2017. However, I am tired of the issues with my 2015 and the car has not been the same since the wreck.

That was quite a bit more than I was expecting.

Some people want a new car no matter what but a year old C7 'vert with low miles is going to be close to the price of a new Camaro.

The flip side is convertibles are terrible sellers, C7's had 'vert discounts almost immediately so the high price might be offset by ridiculous discounts that will be coming.

I have seen 2 convertible 5th gens, ever, on the road.

It has nothing to do with the improvements its pricing it out of the segment.

Uh, the reason for the C7 convert discounts was simple: Chevy screwed up on the targa top and decided to produce many more convertibles than the retail consumer market could sustain. It was an arrogant but typical GM decision, but the end result was a convertible buyers dream so from a consumer point of view should not be condemned.

Will GM order over production of Camaro convertibles? I think not. Mainly because the Camaro does not use a targa top therefore there will be no design/engineering flaws to affect production.

In other words, what happened with the C7 convertible can not be taken as a hint of what will happen with the Gen6 convertible.

It happens with nearly every single convertible on the market.

There are still heavier discounts on C7 convertibles today than coupes, just like when it launched.

If GM learned their lesson in '14 then why were there heavy discounts on a Z06 convertibles in '15 before the coupe was discounted?

The M235 from BMW(I'm shopping one now) you can barely get the dealer to move off price, unless its a convertible, 4-5 thousand off.

The Camaro will see heavy convertible discounts just like most other convertibles out there.

Partly because the market and IMO GM got it wrong, regardless of how nice the 'vert is, the price is just too high for the market.

I did not mean to imply GM had learned any lessons, just the opposite. But I did mean the extreme market forces regarding the C7 convertible were then and are now just that: extreme. And of GM's doing.

But I am not clairvoyant so it could be Chevy will assemble one Camaro convertible for every two Camaro coupes similar to the pattern set for Corvette, but I doubt that will happen for the very reason (targa) it happened with the C7 does not apply to the Gen6.
