Windshield Replacement

Hello all, im looking to replace the windshield on my Camaro, i seem to be having a hard time getting a GM OEM from the shops near me. Im trying to avoid Safelite just from hearing bad reviews and the one near me having terrible reviews as well. Is OEM harder to get at the moment for you guys that have replaced your windshields recently? Any aftermarket brand i should look for if it is hard to get OEM? Local shop recommended Vitro brand, also if anybody has a recommended shop in the Houston area itd be greatly appreciated, im worried of the installer damaging my bodywork or A pillars.

Yes it is getting harder and almost impossible to find a GM replacement windshield. Local junk yards may have them but you need to make sure you can get it in one piece and that it has the HUD compatibility for your Camaro since you have a 2LT.

A rock thrown from a semi-truck cracked my windshield earlier this summer. I had safelite to replace it and the installer done an amazing job. Upon inspecting the windshield after the crack I noticed the windshield had been replaced before I owned it because the seal wasn't right and no gm logo. But the installer from safelite correctly installed the seal. Just like anything else just depends if you get someone who takes pride in their work.

Got the correct windshield for HUD also. That was the one thing that worried me is they would install the wrong one.

You are right on that! Glad it worked out for you. Too bad there isn't a GM logo because that would be nice finishing touch on it!

Yeah that would've been nice, but honestly I had the car for over a year and didn't notice it had an aftermarket windshield until after it got cracked so really not a big deal overall.

Day after my post i ended up finding a shop that had the pilkinton glass as an option for me to get, he thinks that it wont come with the GM emblem but hey its a HUD pilkinton so good enough i guess, i just hope the install goes well, do you think theyd get offended if i mask taped off the a pillars and removed the windshield/wiper cowl before taking it over there? 😅😅
