From what I've read, it looks like that regulation has been in effect for decades. They should update it in my opinion though . I can't imagine that rule being enforced heavily if the exhaust isn't obnoxious. I've heard this type of exhaust and I don't think it would cause an abnormal response, unless authorities were unbelievably nitpicky that day.

Haha, thanks man. Yeah, I actually got pulled over on the way home from the Granatelli event. I'm sure that's first of many that will occur with the car unfortunately. Luckily, I'm smart about following the speed limit.

Did the officer let you off with a warning? You should offer a ride and make friends. HT5 could use some police escorts!!

He was the most amazing CHP I've ever met. He was considerate, complemented my car, and gave me a fix-it ticket for my tinted taillights. He explained that he has seen too many accidents where people have crashed in the rear of another car because of tinted taillights and the driver behind couldn't see them. He said that even though he coul still see the light through mine, I still need to get them fixed as they are still dangerous. I totally respect his opinion on the matter and I completely understand his point of view. My taillights are too tinted, and I'll admit it. To be honest, the last thing I want is to have someone rear end my car on accident. Huge thanks to CHP for being kind, understanding, and respectful. He could have ticketed me for multiple other aspects of my car and didn't. He appreciated the car, inquired about how much power it made, wanted to know how it drove, and simply pointed out the aspect he thought was the most unsafe feature about my vehicle. I definitely respect that. This guy was a true professional in every sense of the word thankfully.

I really respect cops like that also, since I've seen some who have tailgated cars to try and freak them out just to get a ticket out of them. I'll probably get pulled over too. *knocks on wood* So, you're going to remove your tint permanently?

Yeah, I respect him for doing his job well and still treating me fairly for sure. That's a great guy right there.

I'm not sure yet, but I think I may remove the tint, especially if I go with a rear fascia blackout in vinyl (with the rear upper bumper blacked out, the rear taillights would look better. Right now the rear of the car is white, so the black taillights looks much better). If I kept the tint on the taillights and had a blacked out rear fascia, it may be too much black on the back of the car, so removing the taillight tint may look good. If I don't do the rear fascia in blackout, then I'll probably get a lighter shade of taillight tint.

Tommy, I was pulled over about a month ago for my taillights also. The chp officer also wrote me for my front plate, tinted windows, and windshield banner. Everthing he said was a fix it ticket except for the tinted windows. The tinted windows is now a fine in california.

Awe man, sorry to hear that. They are getting more harsh about that stuff it seems. It's probably a matter of time before I get a ticket for the windows :(. Did you remove the window tint, have them check it, and then put the tint back on? Or, did you just leave it removed so you won't get hassled in the future?

I have till mid april to have the ticket fixed. I put on the plate yesterday and took off the windshield banner. I'm going to leave the tint on till I get a second one then probably pull it off. For the taillights I'm hoping to find a fellow camaro owner to let me switch the taillights for a day to get them signed off. I think if we drive with the lights on they wont be able to tell that they are tinted.

Those are good tips. I guess I'll keep my old taillights for such situations!

Very true. Good luck man, as it's a pain to fix things and then reapplying it. I have to figure out what to do as well.
