Key fob not working with second key
Hi everyone,
I have a 2013 SS Camaro L99. During this covid period I haven't been using my Camaro a lot so the battery would die almost every week because I have so much electronics hooked up to it. I still have the old switch blade key fob, I have the original 2 key fobs the dealer gave to me. The problem is the buttons on one of my key fobs is pretty much destroyed by using it too much. The lock, unlock and now the trunk buttons are either non-existent or almost non-existent. So I have my backup key fob, it works at starting the car when I put it in the ignition, but all the other buttons do now work. I tried programming it again by using the old key and then inserting the backup key fob, but still the same situation. I changed the batteries and still does not work. Will the backup key fob start the car if the key fob battery is dead? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You need a good battery in the key fob. If your original key fob works but has deteriorated then you should simply upgrade and replace the fob itself. Equinox key fob is a great solution to buy for that worn out unit you have. Take a look at this vid.
