NPP exhaust controller

So I wanted to be able to control the exhaust flaps, the only option is the forza controller that will hold the flaps closed on command. It’s a little pricey but does the job. So I took it upon myself to find a easier/cheaper route. Fuse tap and a 12v wireless relay, little wiring in the trunk I have full control over the flaps now, and does not appear to have any battery drain as long as the fob is in off mode after shutting vehicle down. I’d be happy to either A: possibly offer a kit to sell to forum members, or B: provide the parts used and wiring.

I didn't wanna still run wires in the cab or drill any holes, for a switch, so I used a wireless relay with a on/off fob. They way I have it wired is off= flaps open at all times ( same as fuse pulled), on= flaps closed. Could also wire it So it’s off=oem flaps control, on=flaps closed.

Lmk I’d any interest here I can provide details.

I was curious if there is a quick way to hold the flaps closed. I know you can pull the fuse to keep them open. Is there a similar manner for closure? I may run on a track that is noise sensitive (AMP in AZ.) and I'd like to have a quick trick up my sleeve just in case. Seems like you've done some good R and D in this area.

Just an FYI, if you are still stock on the exhaust and engine you will pass the sound requirements for AMP. I ran my Z/28 there for years with no issues on sound. But if you still want something, there is something called a Forza exhaust controller. I also installed that and with that you can keep the exhaust flap closed. I would not recommend keeping it closed for track work though because of the heat build up, but it gives you an option.

Good to know about the AMP standard. OP appears to have a good set-up for the folks that want full control. I still have yet to pull the fuse for full attention getting, I'm pretty happy with the stock arrangement at this time.

FYI, the Forza is almost identical to what he made to include a wireless key fob. But I hear ya...enjoy and let me know if you have any questions about AMP or the exhaust controller.

I speak about the forza controller in the first sentence of my original post. I’m basically using the method that member inferno1le shared a few years ago, I just took it to the next step using a wireless relay with fob.

Arizona, if u wanted to
Close the flaps quickly/easily. All you have to do is ground the blu/yel wire going to the trunk fuse/relay box. Grounding this hold valves closed.

Find someone selling an ADM NPP exhaust controller. Buy it, install it. Program it to your MyLink buttons. Done.

Issue with that is.. unless someone installs it after the fact, we don't have MyLink.

Doesn't have to be this fancy...a 3 way switch is all that's needed. Cheaper too!

I didn’t wanna drill holes or run wire. My 12v wireless relay was 8.00$. Also I’m grounding the same wire as the vid. I was just trying to be helpful, I see everyone else has there own way. 13$ in parts for fob controlled npp, figured I’d share.

Sounds good, Yea the wireless is cool if you don't want to make holes. The one I had in the video that I removed, I had programmed into my Homelink like the previous post said. I just wanted a 3 way control so I did the switch. In my opinion, anyway is better than a $200 controller!

If I pull the refuse so that the valves are permanently open, does this have any negative effects on the motor?

I saw a youtube video where it was claimed about a Corvette with NPP exhaust that it would harm the engine.

Does anyone know?
