The drain and fill plugs are on the driver’s side...I’d park it on your ramps with the front higher than the rear as the fill plug is forward of the drain plug as the drain won’t matter so much but the fill will ensure you can get full quantity in it.

I think so. It won't be level enough to get an accurate reading. Not sure if your a big dude or not, but I just shimmied on the garage floor and did it on my back. Using a transfer pump was able to get the accuracy I needed.

A little preventive maintenence, changed my diff fluid this weekend at 1,800 miles. I just crawled underneath it.
There was a little sludge on the magnetic plugs and the fluid had a slight sheen on top in the drain pan.

Took care of the change yesterday.....I have had lowering springs installed, so figured out a solution by going to Lowes and picking up 2x8s

Ok guys I have a 2018, I just called GM and they said there is no additive needed, you just put in the oil, so is there a difference between the 18’s and 17’s or did I get bad info?

If you use this gear oil
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008BZS6J8...v_ov_lig_dp_it
Which is what the dealer would use too, then no additive is needed as it is already included.

Use the slope on your driveway and ramps so you don't have to put all 4 corners on jackstands if you can't fit under.

I only had about 1L come out and it took about 1.3L so I'm wondering if they are slightly under filled at the factory.

I bought my '16 SS about 2 months ago, it had 14,800 miles on it. One of the first things I did was change the diff fluid. Used the same stuff in this post. I still have diff groan. Any update on correcting this?

Diff groan is always going to be present on these rears in cold weather(below 50) on the first couple turns. Just replace the fluid and send it.
