We don't know if there will be preouts, but we figure that they will with accessory subwoofers as an option.

From what it sounds like, the deck is digital out. If this is true, you won't need to get behind the dash. The big question is will the factory amps have a line out, or are we going to have to install DACs in the car to separate feeds to different amps... lots o' questions still remain

BLUE:

Your dealer is partially correct:

1. It is not an available option on the GM Workbench where all of the vehicle options are selected.

2. It is NOT a standard item with the 2SS (or any model for that matter)

If you 'want' the GM subwoofer solution, you will need to have your dealer order it through their parts department. I'm sure that if you search this site, someone has already dug up the GM part number for the subwoofer enclosure.

Good luck!!

The subwoofer is a GM Performance Parts item (not sure why) but it's listed in the GMPP catalog as part number 92213214 "Audio System-Subwoofer". Honestly, I would go aftermarket for something like that but that's just me...

Unrelated but I just noticed that they have the PDIM module listed as well. I wonder exactly what that will provide. Bluetooth for cars without it?

Thanks i appreciate the info. I only asked because I saw it on the order workbook we see online on this site as audio upgrade subwoofer. So it was confusing but you guys cleared it up if I want it I will have to order it later it obviously not factory installed.

Doesnt the Boston Acoustic system have dual subs. It has 9 speakers (2 door mids 2 tweets 1 center 2 on back and 2 woofers)

I've not been able to find confirmation of this. I just asked on the 'road trip' thread because I know that car has the BA sound system. Hopefully we can get a definitive answer.

With an LPO subwoofer being offered, I doubt the Boston Acoustics has true sudwoofers, probably just a pair of bass speakers. But for those not wishing to rattle the windows out of the car, it may be adaquate. I plan to check it out and then make a decision on the need for a sub.
