I switched my battery out last year. It was still working like it was supposed to. I felt like I was living on borrowed time and I was worried about being stranded.

I just replaced my original battery earlier this year. I felt it was time to change it. Like Bad Dab said, felt like it was on borrowed time.

I'm on my 2nd battery (around 90k swap if I recall correctly), on my 3rd set of plugs and wires, and I believe my 4th set of brake pads. Going to swap them all out again soon. These things, I don't wait for them to fail.
Also, just as an fyi lol, I have flushed out the screws and tranny once... and plan to do it again at around 200k. Oil changes often with Mobil 1 High Mileage. 155.6k strong miles and going... Taking it to Bakersfield tomorrow... Last edited by Spec; 06-26-2019 at 08:06 PM. |

I replaced mine at 6 years and 40,000 miles. Not playing games with my Camaro.

My 2010 (built Sep 2009) still has the orig battery - but only has 35K miles and I use a battery tender. I think it may be getting ready to go though. Since I know when they are weak it can cause computer issues, I have a new Interstate ready to drop in...

Brother NewAge - I still have my original battery, but it is ALWAYS on the tender after a drive. Prob like your ride, mine is not a DD, so the tender assures any sulfination and discharge is kept at bay. Never have any starting issues, even when it is beastly hot outside.
Since it is a hassle to pull the cover and any stuff in the trunk out to connect the trickle charger, I made simple connection taps in the trunk for the Tender connection Hook Up. I can say I have personal experience of low battery charge throwing codes, like the dreaded TB and Limp mode one's, and this happened after leaving my Halo's and mail slot LED's on all day at a car show. So I now run these lights independently off of a small dedicated Odyssey AGM in the trunk, with it's own charging tap, and keep my SCT X4 in the trunk to clear any codes on the fly just in case. I also added a separate ground wire from the engine to chassis to improve the ground path flow. I do have a new AGM battery in the basement, but don't plan on using it until the original give's up the ghost. Overkill? - sure but no worries. |

Built July 2009 and still on my original battery.
Starts like a dream, can sit 2 weeks and start right up. Any sign of hesitation in starting and then I will change it out. But until then its good to go.

I changed mine out last year, as people were insistent that my old battery was causing my stabilitrak lights. We discovered that was not the case, but only after I had purchased a new one for it. Most likely the original would have still been going.
I, as well as many others I know, have had great luck with AC Delco batteries lasting close to 10 years or better...so that's exactly what I dropped in for a replacement. Hopefully it makes it until 2028 or so!

I replaced my battery this spring. The original one would throw a stablitrack warning or cause me too have too reset the windows after sitting for more than a few days. It took a charge fine and it still worked well. But I read that a bad battery could cause issues when the pcm is being reflashed so I did the battery while I was doing a list of mods and just before getting tuned.
