A couple of things. Newer 5th gens had a seal change to allow for the newer diff fluid. You have a 2014 and should have the newer type seal, but check into that. It could have been only the ZL1/1LE that had a seal change to allow for synth.
Also, this is a pretty well documented problem in many makes/models. Synthetic has cleaning agents that may have cleansed away gunk on the seal. Also, Dino oil stops them from leaking since regular oil soaks into rubber, rejuvinates it and causes it to expand ever so slightly. You can try one of the stop leak products for diffs but it’s best to replace seal(s). Do check to see if your SS has the updated seal if you want to stick with synthetic. If you need to pull the seals it’s not too hard to do. Plus the new seals are easy to seat properly, unlike some “floating” seals I’ve replaced that can be installed to far into the diff. Good luck. |

👍
I run redline in both of my Camaro diffs. I run AMSOil in my tractor and will use it in my Silverado when I change trans and diffs. |

Running redline in the trans but, picked up OEM ACDelco gear oil and additive for the diff. Was concerned about using synthetic with the older seals (from what I’ve read). Latest stuff is synthetic anyways so, oh well.
