2013 ZL1 M6 Build Ideas Feedback
Hi All, Im new to posting but have been scrolling the forums for a long time now, doing research and looking at upgrades. I picked up a 2013 ZL1 M6 this spring and am putting a build together for over the winter. I am looking for around 650 whp on a 91 octane tune. I don’t plan to track the car beyond the occasional Friday night drags, and even then rarely. I want to keep a safe 91 octane tune as 94 octane and e85 arent as common up here and I use the car mostly for screwing around on the streets and road trips.
Car currently just has a Roto-Fab cai, and I just had a new factory supercharger installed this summer on the service bulletin, so not looking to pull the snout to do a solid isolator or upper pulley. I did the supercharger bypass valve adjustment and Dyno’d at 537 whp. Here is what I am looking at doing: - ATI Damper and 9.55 Lower pulley with idler relocation - ID1050x injectors and JMS boost a pump - TSP 1 7/8” headers with hi flow cats - Jannetty Rough Idle cam package (comes with trunion upgrade, larger pushrods, valve springs/seats/seals/retainers, C5R timing chain, mellings oil pump, 174c thermostat) - LS7 Lifters - Dyno Tune (I’m also on the lookout for Live remote dyno tuners, as opposed to mail order tunes and updates) That’s where my heads at. I want to keep a 91 octane tune so I can fill up anywhere, and want to keep the tune somewhat safe. I don’t want to push the limits to hit 650 whp and beat the piss out of everything. Im basically just doing burnouts, highway pulls, and cruising around, its basically my daily for the summer. From what Ive seen this should let me hit my goal, but any thoughts on this? Any must haves ive missed or anything seem unnecessary? This is my first proper horsepower build. Thanks all! |

Interesting you would reference the Jannety 125 RWHP package plus Cam but wouldn't trust his tune. Back in 2014 I upgraded to that package and Dyno'd 634 (On 93) RWHP w/o the Cam. If you are following his package you will want a catch can to get the blow-buy and even more important he has a Metco Breather with a over pressure valve that will potentially save your rear main seal. |

Ted at JRE is the ZL1 whisper. Lol
He's tunes are awesome. I basically run the JRE 125 package all day long at the track. Runs great. Add the cam afterwards is you want more. You might be surprised without though for what u are doing with the car.

Good info guys thanks. I'm going to pull the trigger on the cam either way, I don't want to have to bring it to the shop and tear it apart twice and have to tune again rather just do it all at once. If I overshoot my goal I won't exactly be upset lol.
Got the gears turning now on the mail order tune. I'd have to get the remote tune package but that's maybe looking cheaper than a dyno rental and tuners time on top of that. Based on his remote tune instructions there's quite a bit to do but looks mostly straight forward. Any idea how long it would take to dial in the tune? The parts aren't all coming from JRE so I don't think it will be a one and done tune I'd think it will need some tweaks, which based on delay time and potential dyno needs brings me back around to a custom live tune. Gonna have to talk to my builder and jannetty and get some more info for sure |

One call to Ted will answer all your questions IMHO.

Why not go to Davenport. You are in Alberta.

I've been thinking about going to them for the tune but they're not super close so it becomes a headache to trailer the car to Calgary and back and such. I have access to a friends shop and dyno near my home, he's just not an LS tuner. He's used remote tuners before on his dyno but doesn't have a specific LS guy either. Davenport is still on the table for the tune though if it comes to it

Yep call him because if you don't buy the parts from him there is a cost for the tune, if I remember its starts around $650. |
