Should it cost $1600 for a new fuel pump and a switch?
I took my car for the first time to Autonation Chevrolet of Pembrook Pines. They made me wait three days for an estimate. It was $1600 for a seat switch ($235) and a new fuel pump. The part price and labor is so high above the average the warrantee company will only pay $899 of it. I have to pay $700. Now they say I have to wait 7-10 days for the part. I've never had this happen at a dealership before. They usually work it out with the warranty company. And I never had to wait for more than a couple of days for a part. Is it the 'ol COVIDE excuse?

FWIW, you have to drop the fuel tank to replace the pump, so it is labor intensive for a dealership, not to mention the pump itself is pricey, but a warranty should cover it. That's why you bought it.
Also, the parts pipeline is still very slow in most industries. I know we're dealing with backorders over 400 days. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk

Can you go somewhere else? The fuel pump is EASY to do if you can cut out the metal right above the tank, and lots of people have done it.
Also, you could easily get a used pump for $100...

RockAuto has a GM unit for $112. As said, if you can get someone to do the trap door method, it would greatly reduce the labor. The dealer is going to drop the cradle and then the tank and then replace the fuel pump. It's a good bit of work.

That sounds like an issue with your service contract, or your dealership refusing to work at warranty flat rate times. You would have to read the fine print there. If the contract pays retail ect.
warranty time for the fuel pump is 4.1 hours so call it 6 customer pay time. fuel pump 13592335 dealer cost is $147 even at 100% markup that's $300. Sounds like the dealership is out of line and the service contract knows it.

I paid $278 for a ZL1 fuel pump and installed it myself. It was a 4 hour job, but only 10 minutes to change the pump. I only lowered the cradle enough to take the pump out and put the ZL1 pump in.
