Which Drag Radial

Just ordered me some drag rims 18x9.5 and cant decide which DR to get. I'm not a fan of the 555R's so I'm looking at MT DR ET II or the NT05R.

Any advice on which one and what size?

I have had both the NT555r's and the NT05R and I much prefer the NT05r's
They have a softer rubber and more of a contact patch. Of course with any DR you need to heat them up a bit.
I have the 18" Z06 replica wheels with the NT05R in 305/45-18
The only issue is that you have to zip tie your e-brake cable to the subframe to keep the wheel from slapping it. Not a big issue though.

Every thing really depends on your mods, if you are stock or slightly moded you can get away with the 555R's but if you don't like them both of the other choices work great even with bigger mods! You can see my mods and I use the NTO5R's and pull 1.8 60 ft. times.

Yeah I'm pretty much bone stock besides the DR. My buddy swears by the MT tire, but I've read good reviews about the NT05R. So I figured I got individual feedback from here. Thanks for the replys so far and also had no clue about the ebrake.

MT and NT05Rs are definitely better than the NT555Rs.

The reason so many guys (including myself) run the NT555Rs is because we run them full time or part time on the street. They are the only drag radials I feel safe driving in the rain with.

I've pulled 1.74 (bolt ons) on the NT555Rs. Padre pulled 1.6x sec 60' on them (bolt ons). So they will definitely do the job (stock or mildly modified)

I think most guys would go with the MT for highly modified setups.

But be careful - if your basically stock, the MT can cause you to bog coming off the line. They can sometimes be too sticky for a stockish Camaro.

Don't forget about the M & H drag radial. It's an awesome tire.

I'd take an M&H drag radial over an NT05r any day of the week... They worked great for me.

i would also agree on the mh for a dr, 2nd pick is the nto5r, but only for a track tire..both suck for daily driving..

An important thing to consider is the power level of the car. We have guys with stock Camaros (O.P.) asking for tire advice. Even an NT555R (least sticky DR)would work well for them at their power level.

There is no need for an M&H tire for a stockish L99 A6 or LS3 M6. Just want guys to understand that.

Are you talking C5 18 inch Z06 wheels? what width are those. Doing a little eBay search finds Z06 18 inch wheels in 9.5 and 10.5 inches. I'm sure an inch makes a difference.
