I'm not doing it either. You can "inadvertently" hit a regular key as well. If anything they should make it push button.

Same here! I wonder how much more a push button ignition really costs. Hopefully the Gen 6 will have a push button start just like that really cool 2014 Toyota Corolla..

We might be forced to perform the recall once our registration comes up. Here in CA, the DMV will not issue a renual until all open campaigns are completed. I hope the new fob runs on the same frequencies as our existing ones, if not even keeping the spare one will render it useless once they program in the new fob.

You can "inadvertently" hit a regular key as well. Push button is only true way to solve that problem

All 2010-2014 model year Chevrolet Camaro vehicles that are in dealer inventory (new and used) must be held and not delivered to customers, dealer traded, or used for demonstration purposes until further instructions are received.
This is unbelievable.

I have waited on min since last September, and it is now finally being delvered next week.

If this affects my delivery I will go completely crazy. Hope they have not seen this in Europe, but I'm afraid they have.

And it's Friday the 13th also.

This is stupid

They will likely be replacing the key with one from the 2014 Silverado where it's the same key type, but just not switchblade style. Doubt they would replace the full ignition switch for the key styling alone.

According to the recall all Gen 5 are affected. Since you are part of GM maybe you can tell them that this is unnecessary and most of the Camaro owners are going to probably ignore this recall. Maybe make it if you are 6'3" or taller you should get it done. I'm not and won't be getting this performed.

Yeah, they always check if there is a recall that needs to be completed when they write you up for service and given they consider it a safety issue, I doubt you can tell them not to do it

I guess that I will find out very soon if they just change the key, my car went into the service department yesterday for what is most likely a strut rebound issue. When I hit certain bumps, it sounds like someone is taking a hammer and banging the car under the windshield area! This has been going on for years, no recall on that!!!!!

Accidently hit your keys with your knee? Who is driving the car...Manute Bol? Holy Hell, I'm nearly 6' and my legs are no where near the ignition.

Just tell them that you don't want the recall done.
