The orange spring spacers
So when I bought my 1LE last year I informed the salesperson that the orange spacers were not with the car. No problem he said. I'll get you some. Turns out the set he gave me are grey. Anyone know what car these are from, or if they are OK? Thanks.

Ok?
Ok for what? The orange spacers were for train/truck transport from the factory to the dealership, then they were to be removed and thrown out. There is no real reason to use them ever again, unless you are having your car mass shipped across the country by people who view your car as cargo at $0.20/lb. It's like wanting to save the styrofoam from the TV you just bought. I guess I just don't understand, sorry. |

My SS 1LE came with orange spacers and I kept them. If I need to load the 1LE on a trailer some day it can be good to have them. They raise the front end to help prevent damaging the chin spoiler when loading onto the trailer.
OP - Do you have a picture or measurements? Maybe they are just a different color but the same size.

How much altitude do these spacers yield when installed? I just bought Race Ramps so I could load my 1LE on my trailer. It's an H&H tilt-bed 12K rated and a fairly steep angle to load. Without the Race Ramps there was no way I could get the car on the trailer. Even with the ramps, there isn't much clearance. Some additional height would yield a more comfortable loading experience.

Serious question......how exactly are they installed? Do they require removing the wheel?would you have to use some serious force to separate a couple coils? I only ask because this is something that would need to be done road-side....before a tow.
They are discussed a lot, shoot, even I had my dealer order me a set after they likely trashed mine during PDI. But it’s never mentioned HOW they are to be used. |

Glen, I thought they were needed if you had to tow your car on a flatbed, because of the approach angle.

I'm pretty sure you have to jack up the front of the car to unload the front springs some, then you could work the spacers into place. I don't think this is something you are just going to poke into the spring and raise the front end.

Did not know that, as previous times these were installed on cars they were to be discarded.
