School should come first no matter what, but I know how it is to be young and want something so bad you can't stand it. My husband and I are only 29 and we make over 100,000 a year because we finished college. Our only bills are house payment and regular things like food, phone, etc.

You may not take my advice but if I were in your shoes I would figure out what my car payment and insurance would be and then rent one from Avis for a little while. That might help show you how it would be to own one. If you really like it and think you can afford it then good luck. If you are having a hard time putting gas in it then wait, save up and get the one you want.

I do plan on having a different financial thing soon but it's a crapshoot whether it'll work or not.
I could get a cosigner

Oh, and not sure about my credit score but I know I have good credit. I have never bought anything over $1200 on credit though.
At 26, the above is the start of the problem.

Working to make money only to have less money to enjoy life doesn't make sense to me.

but in all honesty you should have enough money to get a good down payment, then make sure u can make the car payments and insurance costs each month, also gas money.

you might want to use this calculator

I work a part time job and get around $800 a month, minimum. No other bills. I have an 83 Camaro which I could possibly sell for like $1500-2000.. A few grand saved up and maybe could get more money (especially if it takes a long time from now to actually buy the Camaro).

I don't know how taxes, tags, registration fees and all things like that work?

I basically want the cheapest model possible, an automatic LS in yellow

I don't need the black stripes or spoiler right away, can I get more Bumblebee accurate ones later from someone else? Are they really hard to install?
Twenty six and you work part time? Are you disabled? I'd probably try working full time to begin with.

No.. just lazy and don't believe in working too much.

That's half-true. All I could find in this economy is a parttime job at a retail store

You have to live within your means. Profligacy has damaged our economy and many individuals. I really wish I could afford a 2SS, but as a college student on a budget its not the best choice to make. If I really wanted to I'm sure I could find a way to get one, but I don't want to be crippled by debt when I graduate.

Nevertheless, after saving up and making some smart, financial decisions, I will be able to pay off my 1SS cash when it arrives.

At least I only want the LS :P
What's the point of having an SS when I can only do 45mph on most streets

err I didn't mean that as an insult to anyone
I just mean I'm not asking for more than I need

No other bills? So you live with your parents? You'll need more than a camaro to get laid imo

hey all, Lets be realistic here. Ok, College is good I guess, at least that's what everyone says who listens to the sterotypes and falls for it.
BUT.......its NOT for everyone.
Do some research, I almooost, almost went to college, almost fell for the hype, but held the gun, and found something better after highschool. College Degrees are kindov pointless if you look at the staggering odds at all the drop outs and the people who actually have a degree and dont even end up working at a good paying job in that field.....or they do and just quit after a few years or get laid off etc.....company goes bankrupt...w/e.........etc.. you get the picture.
It is a very small percentage of people who actually benefit financially from going to college.

I graduated HS in 2007, been working and saving hard since then, have over 30+K in the bank, going to put 25K in a CD at some bank to earn higher interest rate so my money will make more money for me.
granted im a saver and hate spending money, but, alot of people i know who are in college right now are in debt and dont have a good of job as i currently have.
By the time they graduate from a 4 year college, and have lets say a 20K or more in debt, i should have over 40K in the bank so their will be around a 60K difference! just to start! after i have been working where i am for 4+ years, i should be at 17 dollars an hour or more.

When they start working at entry level say they will be getting 20 dollars an hour if they are reaalllly lucky consedering they have little actual hands on work experience.
If they are only makeing 3-7 dollars more than me they will STILL be worse off,
consedering i will be making prettty good interest money i already have saved up annnd i dont have any large amount of college debt to worry about or pay off.
and by the time they do pay the debt off, i should have enough saved up to where money i make from interest (free money surplus) should come in to be better money over all.

You can make more money if you get into the right job with the college degree, BUT, you wont have your money working for you. and you have ALOT of catching up to do, which you may not even......

Where as the money I have will be making more money with me doing nothing. Build that up enough and you can make alot of money making money doing absolutely nothing.
