No reverse after 2nd gear burnout?
I have a line-lock and went to the track last week. Did burnout in 2nd gear(manual trans) with t/c turned off. Stabilatrak light comes on than trans wont go into reverse? Anybody else with this problem? If i shut off the car and restart its fine again??

I've had the same issue. I also have a line lock and after a 2nd gear burnout I also couldn't get the car into reverse. I parked it after the run and it was fine after about 15 minutes. Not sure why this happens, but it probably has something to do with the line lock and the service stabilitrak message you get after the burnout.

Had the same problem, but with a 1st gear burnout at the track. No line lock. Shut off and restarted, it was fine.

Interesting. Will watch this thread. I have no issues, although I don't think I have ever tried to get to reverse after a burnout with a line lock?

Carson weve missed you on some cruises? Best is 11.7 at 6000DA. 1.95 60ft. times with 265/45/18 MT ET streets. Launching at 2500 RPM and still getting bad wheel slip in first and second. I need something allot more aggressive!!! I think it has 10.99 potential with some real rubber.

I was the first car out for test and tune and they didn't have the tree turned on so we both kept creeping up to trip the staging lite until we realized we were a foot past them so had to back up. turned the car off and restarted and went right in! must be the stabilitrak???

2010 2ss M6 & line lock ,,,,,
At the track on the weekend and had some issues as well. I did two passes in competition mode first time it would let me do a short burn out 3 to 4 sec.and then stopped . At the end of the pass all 3 liqhts are on (all nannys off ) had to let the car sit for 20 min. to qet them to qo out and the next time went to do a burnout and it let me do a John Force burnout all 3 liqhts on at the line but left in competition mode ??? |

YOU GUYS USING LINELOCK
Line lock solenoids interfere with the cars computer electronics. You need to install a Transient Voltage Suppression Diode across the solenoid Lingenfelter sells these part # L450080000

That's the first I've ever heard of that? The only issues that I know causes problems and disables the abs/traction control is the fact that the rear tires are spinning and the fronts are not. To my understanding that's what freaks the computer out. There is a way around it though by incorporating a relay into the mix by dropping the power off of the abs module during line lock arming. That way it's momentarily "blind" to the fact that the wheels speeds don't match.

I turn all abs/traction controll off and everytime i used line lock the trac system would shut down and the button would do nothing until i shut the car off and and restart it. I asked around to some higher heads if they knew why this was happening and i got no answer. Only when i bought a launch controller from LPE did i find out about the diode because they tell you to install in so the solenoid doesn't interfere with the launch controller..... Then i realized it was the solenoid interfering with my trac system.

The way GM programmed these cars is to protect itself. If the computer sees something unreasonable ie standing still doing a burnout then pushing it on the clutch. The computers looking at zero motion but wheel speed is going very high then wheel speed will drop to 0. The computer will go into a sort of safemode. First thing it will do is lockout reverse. Because it does not think it can trust the cars sensors and does not want you going to reverse if the car has any forward motion. Usually after about a mile or so or 15 minutes driving to recalibrate everything it will let you go to reverse.
I do not use Line locks. And this has happened to me in the past at a dragstrip. After doing a lot of research this is what I found out. |
