70" LED tv help...
Alright boys and girls. I'm in the market for a new Tv. Looking @ at 70", LED, 3D with 240 refresh rate. Want to stay under 3k. Looked at the sharp, vizio, Samsung and few others. Some input from y'all would be appreciated...

Don't buy a Vizio. Cheap upfront cost but long term they just aren't as reliable. I stick to Panasonic and plasma but that limits you to 65". I'm looking at the Sharp LED for my next setup. Waiting for 80" to get reasonable.

I have the TV your looking for.....in fact I am looking right at it right now!! I got the Sharp you described and I love it......when I bought mine.....it was under the $3K mark you stated.....and I LOVE IT!!! o9h and on top of the other things you mentioned, its also got WIFI built in (smart tv) and there are multiple additional built in stations like NetFlix, HULU and a bunch of others ....... in fact there is a NETFILX button on the remote to take you directly to it.
I HIGHLY RECCOMEND IT.

I was holding out for 4k to become reasonable and practical but my ole 60" Sony LCD says she is tired and wants to retire to the bed room. I'm tempted to go buy a cheap 60" plasma for a few years but great time to upgrade

My .02 is Samsung or Sharp. A guy at best buy told me that Vizio is Sony's that didn't make the cut or had problems and had to be fixed before leaving the manufacture. Don't know if there is any truth behind that though

I suggest you get the exact model number and do research on it first. Some model TV's sold at Walmart are bargain models and are lacking some features so they can sell them a lot cheaper. Pay close attention to number of HDMI inputs audio output capability and contrast ratio, try to buy the highest contrast ratio and refresh rate you can.

Stick to a Samsung. Their new 8000 series is unbelievable. If you have Direct Tv, all 7,8, and some 6 series models have Direct Tv equipment already built in, so that's 1 less receiver you have to get (but you need the new genie in the house as well). And it fits all the requirements you asked for.
And if you don't have direct tv, then let me know. I can hook u up! Last edited by ZLWonton; 06-30-2013 at 10:20 PM. |

Vizio's quality is very nice now. They just released a new model 70" 3D 240 hz. It's much thinner and better looking than the previous model. Price isn't bad either. If I were to buy a new 3D TV, it would be either LG or Vizio because I prefer the passive 3D. No heavy expensive glasses that need to stay charged. Just use the lightweight glasses like you get at the theatre.

Another vote for Sharp. Had my 60" for three yrs now. Love it. I was skeptical at first but did it anyway and been happy since day one.
