K&N Intake

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up...

When I first got my car back in June I dropped it off at K&N for them to work on designing the CAI. It took them a lot of research and a lot of cars (they had mine for a week and I know they had quite a few more v6 owners drop their cars off for testing as well).

I called yesterday to follow up and get a status update and I was told they just released the final part to their production line and they should have something ready for me within 6 to 8 weeks.

So its still a ways out but at least there is a solid time frame now.

I was reading in a different thread that a CAI would effect the sound of the engine/exhaust...

Is this true?

I'm no enthusiast, just trying to learn as much about my car as possible.

If you had your choice, would you rather have the K&N when it comes out or the Airaid? Let's say gains in HP and torque were equal.

Pardon my naivety again, but adding a CAI voids the warranty, correct? If I ever had an issue and had to go to the dealer, I could just slap on the stock intake?

I like the Airaid so I ordered one.

I know nothing about the K&N so I can't judge it ....

Does anyone have any info. or photos of the K&N ?

Short answer is no your warranty will not be voided for installing a CAI. Of course the dealer will not warranty the actual CAI, but the rest of your warranty will not be voided. By law you can only be denied warranty claims if the part you replaced is directly responsible for the failure. A lot of dealers will tell you that replacing any part will void the whole warranty but the law is on your side. For a lot more info check out the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

Now to make it easier if you have warranty claim related to the engine it isn't a bad idea to put the stock piece back on but strictly speaking it isn't required.
