GoPro Center Speaker Grille Mount
Not sure this fits here or in the Audio/Video section, but since I have disconnected my center speaker as many others have, I decided to make use of the center speaker grille for a GoPro mount.
First I removed the speaker itself, and fished a wire through for a female 12v cigarette ligher plug so I had a power source. This was wired into the fuse panel by the drivers side. I then cut 2 1/16” aluminum disks to fit the speaker opening area; 1 for the inner recess and 1 for the outer lip. Drilling a hole through the grille mesh and through both plates, I was able to mount a “hot shoe” camera mount screw in this. Then I used a Nechkitter 360 Degree Rotating Tripod Mount Adapter and Gopro skeleton housing to mount onto this screw. Lastly brought the Gopro power cable through the speaker grille via rubber grommet. Voilà’ . a fixed interior Gopro mount that has full time power without dangling cords and can be rotated 360° for interior or exterior recording. Since I have a convertible, I can also pull out extra power cable and connect to an exterior mount I have on the upper center windshield. The entire mount and power cable can be removed by simply pulling up on the grille to remove, and replaced with a spare grille I purchased. May not be for everyone, but works for me. |
