Traction assist and stabiliy management
Hey Guys, I've been lurking here on and off.
I have a 2015 Z28 and did some research but could not find an answer to the above topic. I would like to know if the computer assist/traction can be fully turned off? I double push on the right side and it indicates all systems and off on my dash and then I change the setting to RACE mode. Recently I had a chance to open up the throttle on a dry skid pad and found the car to cut fuel. I did not have full control of the throttle despite following the instructions in the manual to turn off all intervention. Can you guys share your knowledge about this? Thank you in advance. |

You need to do a seven second depress of the traction control button to fully (or as much as possible) disable the systems. You could possibly remove the ABS/Stabilitrak fuses; but of course, this will effect the ABS.

What Stephen said above. Once you hit about the seven second mark both the traction control and stability control lights should come on.

Thanks guys.
Two quick pushes of the traction button turns on the two indicators that assist is off on my dash. I guess I'll hold the button down on the 2nd push to see if I can shut down the assist fully. "StabiliTrak® automatically intervenes when it senses loss of lateral traction" Sounds like this would cut my fuel and of course I'll try pulling the fuse if I have to. If won't be for a while before I have the opportunity again to try this in a safe controlled environment so I'll have to wait |

I would not pull the fuses. JMHO, 1 press disables TC and a 7 second hold down of same button disables Stabilitrak. Removing fuses may affect airbags. I don't know this for fact, but thought I saw it in another thread.

I always thought I was turning everything off by holding the buttons down. If you just press the traction control button 1 time it will turn the traction control completely off. Jason Chin who has a bad ass built Z schooled me on this at the LS Fest. The car fell on its face both 1/4 mile passes. He told me about this afterwards I went back to the speed stop challenge and did a john force burnout off the line.

To be clear for the OP... The 7 sec hold is one push of the button only.

Press the traction button ( center button ) just once, this will turn traction control off. Then hold the stability control button ( right button ) for 7+ seconds, this will turn all stability control off. To confirm you will have two orange lights lit on the tachometer.

Too much mis-information here... All you have to do is push the button one time and hold it for 7 secs, both lights come on saying both are disabled in the dash.
Better have a good grip on the wheel when both are deactivated!

This above, reinforced. Visual walkthrough will need to be posted as it seems every thing said is contextually misconstrued. Happens though.

Everyone writes and perceives different so internet help can be a mess sometimes. Picture added to help visualize...
Disable all: Press & HOLD button TSC/ST (3), for ~7 sec. Light indicator on dash will illuminate once successful. Press TSC (3) again, to reactivate. - If TSC (3), is pressed once, traction control is disabled. Light on dash will indicate. With traction controlled disabled, if the TSC (3) button is pressed again, PTM modes become available, indictated by another dash light, and traction control will be appropriate for which PTM mode is being used. Use TOUR- (1) and Sport + (2), to toggle between PTM modes. *Pressing TSC (3) twice consecutively at the beginning will also get to the PTM modes. No need to wait. As for the Tour (1) and Sport (2) Buttons on their own (not being used to select PTM), steering effort and feel changes in Tour... reduction of effort. Sport steering feels the same as a default setting when the car is initially started. I have not spent any extra time to tell if there are notable differences with vehicle behavior (throttle or TC/ST) outside of steering. Steering is probably it as I doubt any real need implement much with those two buttons. PTM: https://www.chevrolet.com/content/da...PREP_Final.pdf |

Holy moly...hold the T/C button down for 7 sec. The other buttons are clearly marked Tour & Sport which only changes the steering effort in a Z/28.
