Want to do a gear swap for L99!!!

Hey all Camaro greats !!! I Have a 2010 L99 and been reading up about getting better gears for the SS . As of yet no hardcore mods yets ,just BO WHITE ported TB , CAI intake , borla atak catback , 1-7/8 speed engineering long tube headers with cat delete and been tuned by DYNO STEVE . From what I have been reading a lot of people do a gear swap to 3.70 or 3.73 . I need a starting point as to what I will need in terms of the install kit and around how much it will cost me for the parts alone !!! In your opinion is it worth it to do the gear swap ??? Will I notice a significant change in the driving feel of the car . Next project will be a cam (not aggressive ) but leaning towards the Texas speed cams . I would appreciate any recommendations !! Thanks in advance !!!!

I think what you have been reading are old posts from people who are guessing and have no real answer. 391s seem the be the most popular choice these days for good reason.

I wanted to do the 3.91's but my tuner / builder said that for a daily I might not like it, running higher revs and a bit warmer on the interstate is what he said, but that it would be "one hell of a ride!" So I'm torn, do it or not. I don't travel much and the only time I get on the interstate and go above 70 is to go down 2.5 hrs to see him, anytime else it is only for about 15-20 minutes, most of my driving is below 55 in town. So I don't know. He suggested a diff from an m6 Camaro with 3.45's..

Lol the confusion !!

Thanks so much for the responses so far guys . Am not getting a definitive answer . Yes my car is a DD. And I drive within town to work !! So now I’m even more confused lol !! . I saw a couple of posts regarding different kits offered even one of them offered by Texas speed and performance for like $465 . Which is not bad price wise but then again with the install will it be worth the headache and then I also have to reach out to DYNOSTEVE to see if he will be able to remotely re tune .. so many questions .so many options !! The more the options the more confusing it gets ..

You will lose MPG with the 3.91, that's the only negative affect I've had with mine. I lost maybe 1.5 MPG, but some of that is my foot. Get the GM performance kit, it comes with most of what you need. I paid to have mine installed so I'm not sure what else is required for installation.

Was it from the GM website ?
Did u have to get additional items other than what’s included in the kit ? what was an approximate price for the install

Ya I thought about all that as well. Pulled the trigger and haven't looked back. The rpms are around 2200 at 65 or 70 mph if I recall. I haven't really noticed it anymore. All the worries people put in your head are not very accurate. Listen to the advice from the guys that have the 391s...they are a great mod.

Im running a big stall and 3.91s and no problems. I also don't have any issues on the highway even with higher rpms. Its more enjoyable if you ask me

I was in the same boat with deciding what gears to go with, but now, by a stroke of luck, I was able to find a set of Lingenfelter 3.70's that were hardened and anti-friction treated. Along with this an entire pumpkin with 3:27, poly bushing and JRE posi mod; all for $500 to my door. The set up is at shop now waiting for quote for build and install. Just gotta save up for a stall now as I have the Gwatney VVT SS1 and even with this smaller cam, the torque push on the brakes is rough and the higher gears will make it worse.

Per recommendations of many, I'd consider a trans cooler as well especially if you're considering a cam/stall in the future.

Hopefully, I'll know what this is gonna cost me tomorrow.
