Are Camaros really accident magnets?
Hello Everyone,
I GOOFED! This morning I was picking up my co-worker Ollie at his house. Pulled out of his driveway and went a block to the stop sign at Merrimack St. and Community Dr. I stop. I didn't see the Cavalier coming up the hill from the right. There is a little dip in the road where a car can hide. I start to pull out and Ollie said whoa. I slam on the brakes. Too late. She swerved to avoid me but I clipped her rear door. She felt really bad about wrecking my car and I told her it was my fault (I know insurance companies hate that.) She started crying and I felt even worse. Everyone was OK. At impact, I was going 2 or 3 MPH and she was only going about 10-15. The officer arrived and got all our info and gave me a ticket. No surprise there. I haven't been at fault for an accident since 1991. Here are a few photos. The first is at the scene. After I took the pic, I clipped the nose back into the grills and straightened out the lower piece. The second is after I got to work and pulled the clear bra off. Damage doesn't look as bad. I think all the cracked plastic came from her rim. There is no yellow paint on her door and no green on mine. The only apparent casualty is the bumper cover and lower grill. I am thinking of replacing it with an SS nose and aftermarket grill? I could have done the modifications without first wrecking the car. Hopefully, it will be all better before the Car Show on the 28th. Otherwise I bet I win a trophy for the WORST looking 2010 Camaro Rich |

Not good dude but everyone was ok which is good. Atleast it's only the plastic parts and not the sheetmetal.

^ What he said and on the bright side, that's a very easy fix. Ask you dealer to paint the fascia before they call you to bring it in so that it will only be there for a few hours.

YUP, got her name, DOB, and phone number LOL. From the police report. Too young for me; I'm 39 on Saturday, she was 17.
Kinda expensive way to get her info though. I don't think my lovely wife would appreciate me contacting her for a date. My co-worker who is currently single has her info. The officer who arrived at the scene was about my age and VERY cute. I got her name and badge number too- it's on the ticket. Quote:
Hylton- you are very knowledgeable. Can I replace that with a SS nose? -Thanks

Yes, it will bolt up perfectly but you will also need to purchase the lower grill for the SS since it is different.

UPDATE
Just got off the phone with Banks Collision.
The fascia covers for LS/LT and SS are the same price $354.36; no out of pocket upcharge for me. However they are backordered, he is trying to contact dealers that are showing one in stock. The lower grill is $56.37; same price LS/LT/SS. I don't think I need any of the following; reinforcement cushion, brackets, upper grill, DRL housing. But he confirmed that they are the same part numbers. My insurance will replace the clear bra also. My only cost (not including future rate increases) is $500 deductible and $30 for the mail slot insert. |

In this day and age, I find those prices quite reasonable.

To bad Bumble Bee didn't take over and keep you from wrecking! I guess he was snoozing! But I think one reason these cars seemto be accident magnet is because people are looking at them and they are not paying attention to there driving! Hope you get your car fixed soon and glad no one was hurt good luck.

I brought this up a few times before. Are we missing things from our field of view due to the car design? I only ask because I don't have my car yet.
WAYYYY to many accidents!@@ -Bobby
