If it's thinner, it's probably lighter which means you'll go faster. I may get me some of that Safelight sand.

I had the OEM replaced at the dealership on my 2010. They had an outside guy come in and do the install and I feel that he did a pretty good job. The bill was $415 out the door, but my glass coverage picked up the bill with $0 deductible. I have seen quotes for the HUD windshields though at $1300.

I didnt have glass coverage separately so it was up to the $500 deductable. HUD glass was I think low $500s installed.

Hmmm. It's just glass coverage. So it should be in guessing but maybe you should take the safe route and say something else

Safelite sucks. The guy that did the windshield on my Ram stole my EZPass and used it the same day. And they guy that did the repair on my wifes SUV screwed it up and instaed of a crack right in the line of sight there is a milky white spot. Both my insurance and Safelite are saying not our fault.

Satellite is a franchise and most of their complaints are of the actual repairs performed by incompetent people and not about the materials. If you find a good franchise dealer you will get a good job. I have had 3 windows replaced (2 front and 1 rear) and one chip repaired all by the same shop and one of them was even replaced in my driveway and all were of quality material and workmanship. Its just like any other franchise you have shady people operating under a company's name and the company gets the blame. Usually those people don't keep their franchise for a long time.
I actually have no complaints about the Satellite people I used.

Having mine done tomorrow morning....random hairline crack happened on monday. Dont know how. Nothing hit it. Deductable through insurance is $250...called insurance and was transferred to Safelite, scheduled appt. And was told by their rep deductable was $50. Sooo? Do i pay Safelite $50 and then insurance anothet $250? Slightly confused.

Well, the franchisees in Virginia have completly turned me away from having Safelite do ANY work for me in the future. ESPECIALLY after talking to their corporate customer service and essentially being told it wasn't their problem.
