People with Flowmaster AMT Cat Back....

I would like to know from everyone that installed the Flowmaster American Thunder Cat Back exhaust system on their LS3, (no headers) how is the interior sound while driving..??

The system sounds great from all the vids I've seen, but would like to know if there are any drone problems or other issues while driving 60 - 80.

Thanks!

M

I don't get drone. Idle sound through the power band I like. Make sure you compensate for the 3 inch as opposed to the stock pipes. Overall I love mine.

Thanks for the reply.

What do you mean "compensate for the 3" pipes".?? I remember reading something about adding washers / center brace clearance issues.....is this what you're talking about..?

Thanks!

I agree as to the sound it is agressive thru shifting or acceleration but not any drone The bolt on system is a complete 3 inch system.

I thought the Flowmaster system only came with full 3 inch exhaust.

yes...it is 3"....i'm just not sure if there is any installation problems I should know about with the 3" Cat Back Flowmaster.?? I want to be able to drive my Camaro from the dealership to my buddy's repair shop and slip it on..lol..... Plus I was worried about it being too loud or having a drone problem. Sounds like everyone is happy with it.

Any info on installation tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!

well i did the muffler delete... sounded really thin and pointless... then i did the flowmaster catback.. AMAZING difference in tone.. its a low growl very minimal drone and has a huge potential with other mods if you decide to go the header route.. watch my video comparisons on here...

My experience with it was, yes, the interior sound is much louder than stock. The Flowmaster website even says it has increased or more aggressive sound on the exterior and interior and I guess I should have listened to them. I'm sure many people love it but it was just too much for me. Low rpm in any gear and I had, at least what I call, drone or a resonance that was too intrusive for my liking. Just my .02

Installed the catback flowmaster 40 series. Nice sound and I am overall happy with it. But I do get droning at 86 MPH or lower in 6th gear. If I downshift (via manual mode) then it goes away. I am planning to delete my active fuel management with my Superchips tuner tomorrow as I have heard that this will fix the problem. I will let you know. BTW...if you have not figured it out, I drive an A6.

Here's a video I took of mine with some drive-bys as well as some interior sound you can listen too at various speeds.........hope this helps. http://www.youtube.com/user/NVMY68SS.../1/nva8IqWWAwA

I do have the Roto-Fab and Doug Thorley shorties along with the Flowmaster AMT setup. Install is incredibly simple.

Hi,
I've been looking at the Flowmaster 817481 American Thunder Cat-back system.
Has anyone installed this on a 2SS and have there been any issues as it relates to deleting the original resonators.
