Sway bar help

Hello I've done alot of lurking around here and I can't seem to find the specific answer. I want to upgrade my rear sway bar in the most economical way and have been looking at the ZL1 bar. My question is what do I need to do upgrade specifically do I need the lower control arms? I have a 2015 1LT V6 Manual. Thanks in advance.

the control arms are fine I just upgraded my 2015 LT to a 1le bar. Look down right by the back of your rear spindle you will see a hole that's where the drop links go. Make sure to get the drop links with the bar they are very different to the V6 links. and the bolt head goes down on the links otherwise they hit your wheels.

Where did you get your bar I was planning on going though GMPartsdirect.com and was curious if it came with the mounts

Wouldn't hurt to get a quote from a dealer for a new bar. The new bar won't come with the mounts but you can keep the mounts you have now, but you'll need new bushings for the mounts as the bar will be bigger. Not sure of the part number for the bushings but GMPartsDirect might have them, or again you can try the dealer.

my bar came from LKQ via eBay I paid $199 for everything. If you go the eBay route make sure to check the part numbers because an SS bar is way smaller than a ZL1 or 1LE bar

I would talk with JPSS. I got my sways from him. He has never pointed me in the wrong direction. I have never heard anything bad. His products and quality are top notch. I would give him a shout. http://www.jpssonline.com/ (276) 644-0100

A new rear bar from GM should be a ZL1 or 1LE and both the bars should ship with the sway bar bushings and straps attached. You will need to order two drop links as well. Both these bars are 28mm.

My JPSS rear bar is $100 more than the internet price shown in this thread. It is also a bigger bar and that is a big deal on the 5th Gen. The bigger the rear bar the more balanced the car becomes.

Will be visiting Pete in August and after the upgrade will have 1LE struts/springs and 1LE rear sway bar available!

So I ordered a ZL1 bar and links from gmpartsdirect for ~$150 with shipping. Once I complete my transfer to Miami next month I'm going to look into exhaust, bushings, and springs. Thanks for the input from everyone. I may try to do some Autocross here and there but for now I got to find a place with a sweet garage.

It’s all preference. On the street, realistically the stock 28mm zl1 rear bar and your stock bar is a good balance and won’t stiffen the rear much over one wheel bumps. Bigger bars while giving flatter cornering are more then you can ever use safely on the street.

I was thinking of putting OEM 1LE sway bars on my 15 SS, any concerns with doing this considering i have a staggered wheel set up?
