7 years later
Gonna ask again. I have this metal on metal slap coming from divers side rear that sounds exactly like a lose brake pad slapping against the rotor when I apply the brakes. Only happens when moving forward. Have checked for lose nuts/bolts...nadda. calipers are all snug, pads tightly seated. Any ideas? Never caused any issue, just another annoying snap, crackle, pop of early 5th gen. Eventually it goes to Raymonds for upgrades. Just wondering if anyone has same 7 yrs later.

I have not had anything like that in my 7 years. You say it only happens when moving forward. Is it when you just start out moving, or the sound is happening the whole time you are moving forward? Does the sound change as your speed increases? Could it be a worn bushing in the suspension or endlinks?
I had something similar with my truck and the brake pad, but my truck has 187K miles on it. The bolt holding the pad was pretty worn and it was letting the pad strike the rotor when moving. It gave a 'clicking' noise and that noise would of course increase with speed. As you mentioned, I took it to Raymonds and they figured it out. |

It's only when I apply the brakes moving forward. When I back up and hit the btakes....nothing. I pulled all the calipers and checked everything.....twice. Again, it's a minor annoyance. Funny thing, after 7 yrs it's never gotten worse. Took it to the dealer during warranty period....got the usual answers. Figured it was just typical of my car....or eventually it would break and I'd know the source.
