Got the new drag radial
I purchased the new Nitto drag radial. It's called the 555RII now. They were around 650 a pair shipped. Hopefully I can make the Atco opening on the 27th.
I will say I had no issues with the old Nitto drag radial the 555R. I got dead hooks on the track so I plan on doing a comparison on them.

Nice! $650 a pair seems comparable with the price of the 555r if I remember correctly. Please let us know how you like them.

305/35/20 Once I figure out what drag setup to get that will change though.

Those are supposed to hook even better than the 555R’s. Looking forward to hearing your feedback, I might go back to those on my 20” setup for driving around town.

If these are even better I'll be very pleased. Should be here Monday, track opens the 27th, when CSP finishes my car? Hopefully next week as well.

I have had mine since January and slap them on for the weekends and track. They will help drop that 60ft for sure over a summer tire. Love mine. I just have the stock tire size on an extra set of factory wheels but they cut .3 tenths off my 1/4 over the summer tires and got this bolt on and stalled L99 into very low 12s and I have driven them in the rain and have no problem with traction being sensible with my right foot.

If you get traction and a decent 60ft I don't see how you can't be in the 10s with that set up. I have seen L99s with the gpi ss4 vvt, big stall over 4k, gears, tires, the whole setup with good track prep and good air run 10.8-11.2 all night long, so you should have deep 10s in there for sure. I think most of those guys I saw at HRP were running about 500rwhp NA. With your ecs I assume you are 600-750rwhp? You defiantly have the power.lol

I ran an 11.40 on a conservative tune last year.

You should definitely be in the 10s. If you can't pull a 1.6 or better you are surely traction limited. If you still have a problem after your next run getting in the 10s I would drop from 20inch wheels to 18s or smaller. While everyone says 18s make a huge difference I haven't seen that at my power level. I think the skinnes are what matters most for someone with my setup but at your power level both probably are worth more than a tenth easily.
Also, I noticed the 3.91 gear. That is a ton of gear for a blower car with your power and I have no doubt it is fun from a 30 pull but it is almost to much of a good thing with all that low end torque if wheels, tires and suspension aren't perfect. I would check into some 3.45s as they are factory replacement and can be had for cheap. If this is ultimately a street car and cruiser than a 3.91 will be the hot ticket and should be the fun gear but at your power level it's hard to get that all down without a perfect setup. It might actually be slowing you down. Data log it all and I would play with the PSI. I am sure 18-26psi will be the sweet spot. But start at like 26psi and work your way down 1psi at a time. I have never run below 18psi and I got no 60ft gain for me going to 18psi. I think for me 24-26psi was the sweet spot but I don't really need them that low for my power level. Really once I added the bushings and BMR rear suspension it was night and day, the nittos are just icing on the cake at this point. A lot more skill and prep involved in a car with your power level. I am pretty sure anyone off the street could get my car in the low 12s after a few passes. Good luck and keep us posted! |
