GM engineers are meet tomorrow to discuss
My car, like several others, was held in Oshawa for over a month this time last year.
Reason: Quality control for the manual transmission. Yesterday, I drove the car for the first time in three weeks. Immediately after backing out of the garage, I could smell a faint burn. I have smelt this before, it just has been a while. The clutch has stuck to the ground 3-4 times since I picked it up late last summer. After reading how other people are handling their issues, I decided it was time to call the dealership. I informed the service guy about the issues and when my car built etc. He called me back 30 minutes later with this information: He said there is a " big deal" meeting tomorrow with several GM engineers to discuss this issue. In addition, he said this was the first he heard of the issue, but I could tell that it has been a much talked about topic through out the company. He even added that the GM people he spoke to said " that the clutch smells and has issues in the comp and launch control." I agreed with him, but said that is really not the issue because to me it has now become a safety issue. I told him I could careless about the comp mode and launch control, I do not use it. Again, safety is my issue. After what I witnessed yesterday and with the car setting for three weeks and it smelling like it did. I felt that a call to dealership was warranted. I do not drive it hard, I have got on it of course, but getting on it has never been an issue. Backing up, on hills, or setting for three weeks the car should not do that. I had the dealership pick it up today from my house and they arranged for a rental in the morning. Just curious if any one else heard about this meeting? |

First time I've heard of it personally.
If it's true, it'll be interesting to see what they come up with. |
