Zl1 vs c7 z06

So I went for a ride in my buddies c7 z06 yesterday and that thing is a rocket. So much that it's hard to believe that I have the same engine. I feel like I'm a good 100hp down than his car. Does anyone else feel like their zl1 is no match for the z06? I know the zl1 is 200-300 lbs heavier than the vette, but man it feels like I've been using the valet mode compared to the acceleration of the corvette.

Cars always feel faster when you're in the passenger seat.

I have an M3, and my buddy has an M4. Same car, except he has two less doors. His car always feels so fast compared to mine, even though it's not.

I ran a c7z from a 60 last week. Stayed even till about 110-120 where he was about half a fender out on me. He was an m7, I'm an m6.

I had the opportunity to have a C7 z06 and now have a ZL1 (both manuals), I feel the same way. The ZL1 is more comfortable for me and has a backseat which I need so a better choice but I agree it just seems slower than the z06. I only have 500 miles on mine so I need to break it in to really feel the difference.

The ZL1 shouldn't be a match for the Z06 it is 400+ Pounds heavier. The Z06 is a smaller car with better suspension and better tires.

I know we are talking M6 ZL1's here, but I'd venture to say an A10 ZL1 could run with or past both a M6 and A8 C7 ZO6

Yup, I have both and it isn't but they are different cars with different strengths and weaknesses and have their intended purposes.

Yup, there is no getting around that the ZL1 is just a lot heavier than the Z06 and that will make it feel pretty different.

Not a chance, the transmission doesn't make much of a difference if somebody can actually drive their car. The difference between an A8 and A10 is completely negligible from a performance standpoint in my opinion as they both shift fast as shit at WOT and the spacing between gear ratios doesn't do much of anything with the LT4's huge torque heavy power band. If it was a peaky high RPM N/A motor the A10 would make more of a difference.

I saw someone post a stock time of 11.2 at 130 mph on the ZL1. What does the ZO6 run? How much faster can it be? I would love to see this race. I think the A10 is much faster than the A8. Could be wrong.

Anyone run a 10 second ET on any Gen6 ZL1 yet? How about a mid 10?

Z06 A8 cars run 10s pretty consistent.

All different cars. Different tracks.

Best ET I have seen for a 100% stock ZL1 has been 11s. 11.2 from a post on this site.

So 11.2 - 10.4 = 0.8 seconds. That is a ton faster.

straight line, I don't know. But on a road course, the disparity is very obvious to me. And I'll tell you another observation...I can't see drop outs in the Camaro at all where the Corvette I can see everything. I am pretty much going off memory alone while pinning it over the crest of a hill. I think that makes me a little slower in and of itself as I can set up my line better in the Vette. I think it's the little things like that which make the ZL1 feel a bit slower.

Not sure what somebody posting a stock time has to do with anything since there are so many conditions that come into play with that. Either way stock Z06s have run 10.40-10.60 in good air but again that doesn't mean anything unless it's two stock cars at the same track at the same time. Also not sure why you would think that the 10 speed auto makes for a lot faster of a time than the 8 speed, I have both and I'm telling you it won't.

Yeah, I haven't driven in the ZL1 yet but I have driven a C7 Z06. Don't expect to compete against them when both are stock/same mods. Naturally of course, it's GM's premiere car and some black magic was done to the Z06 or against the ZL1 that makes them quite decently separated once you get past the spec sheet (Same power, 250 more pounds). A8 Z06s are mid 10s all day long on stock tires. An A10 ZL1 is never going to crack a 10s and if it does, it'll be a hero pass at Cecil county @ 10.98 or some shit.

I heard someone say this and I agree, the ZL1 is fast. The Z06 is brutally fast.

The z06 is currently the fastest GM's car and they're not going to have the Camaro take away or threaten the title.

Interesting that in the 2nd Vette clip it ran 10.8 @ 130. The ZL1 ran 11.2 @ 130. The Zl1 should be able to shave down to 10.8 as well, right?

Two things: Weight and Torque Management.

No.

The thing we've seen the A8 Z06 do is pull ludicrous 60' times which are clearly depicted in the ETs they put down stock.
