Can I Remove Registration Stickers Without Damaging Them?
I just pulled the plate off our old family boat's trailer. This plate should have 30 years worth of registration stickers on it. (the "16", going all the way back to about "87" or so). I'm probably going to get the new plate since this one is so beat up. And of course that will come with a new sticker. BUT for old-times sake, I'm wondering if theres any way I might be able to dissolve the glue, but not the stickers, on this plate? It would be pretty neat to get them all off and separate! The glue on these things is pretty permanent though, and the stickers quickly get nice and brittle. But maybe theres something I can soak the plate in? I'm getting a new one so I could soak this one as long as needed.

I tried something similar with a California plate, to expose the right year for my car. I was going to put it on for car shows as a gag.
More trouble than it was worth. But you can do it, even if you use a razor blade and patience.

Get a new plate. The paint is all cracked on that one.

Most of the stickers have score marks in them. They are designed so they cannot be removed without major damage. Prevents theft.

My opinion was exactly what I said, go get a new plate...Not sure what you mean by your comment. OP: you will never be able to remove each registration sticker. They are made to say void with lines in it once you try to remove them.

Use a Lighter torch and heat up the rear of the plate where the stickers are, little by little.
Use a razor blade and scrape the very first sticker of the softened paint.

I'd leave the stickers piled on....That speaks to the true art and history of the plate...Sort of a badge of honor, gives it character...lol...
Try to separate them?....Probably not worth the hassle.... Good luck. If you really want to separate them, I'd try soaking it in Goo-Gone.... |

Plenty of folks more dextrous than me. Oh I wouldn't give the task to an armless man or a cockerspaniel, or even to the average ham fisted passer by, true.

stickers also become brittle, they will more than likely break off into pieces trying to separate them...
