What are some good front and rear speakers plug and play?
Hi, I have a Alpine PDX-V9 amp and a complete Fark kit that I'll be installing soon into my BA equipped car, At this time I don't have a sub but would like to upgrade the speakers inside of the car, looking for recommendations and do I need anything else to install or are they plug and play.
How are the stock BA speakers with a better amp sound? Thanks

JL Audio C2 series is a good upgrade in a reasonable price range.

it's personal preference, just try the amp first and see how u like it. is ur amp capable of driving 2ohm loads? all the 2 ba speakers are 2ohms so u need an amp with a 2ohm rating.

From my understanding it will work with the stock speakers .

u could always add speakers afterwards, u will need the adapters for the rears if you want to keep the factory ends.

You have one of the best amps out there IMO the PDX series amps are nicer than anything Alpine have in there line up now, I have the PDX-F6 in two of my cars. As others have mentioned just adding the amp I think you will be greatly impressed, if you have the full FARK kit it would come with the adaptors for your bi-amp 6X9 to operate the tweeters and midrange which is a very decent sounding speaker with an amp. Based on the amp you have which is kind of on the high end, I would guess you would be interested in the mid to high end speaker range such as Focals, Morels or JL audio. I do not know your interest, but PM me I have some JL C5-650 components with less than 30 minutes of play time, that I would sell.

The stock speakers will sound decent because they are getting a bit more power. IF you want to upgrade them, you can go with anything decent. Kicker KS are fantastic budget, Infinity Kappa, JBL Stadium (which i was originally going to get) Entry level Morel speakers are musically smooth etc. Depends on what you want to spend. I personally have Morel 3 way components in my car (Custom a-pillars for a soft dome mid and a 1.1" tweeter)

What sizes do I need and do they bolt in with no modifications? I've done research and I have read that they bolt in and also they need to be modified. I don't need show winning sound but would like a nice clean sound. Do the tweeters need to be replaced or are the Factory ones decent? My knowledge in this area is lacking.

That is my plan to hook up the Amp first and see, I am just looking to get some ideas so I can research better speakers, I would like to know the size or models that work for our cars. Hopefully the factory stuff sounds good and I can leave it alone.

Rears: 6x9" for the bass with a small 3" above it. They are bi-amped. There is no drop in replacement because of this. You could use a component 6x9 set but i havent tested with them.

research 2 way vs 3 way and don't look at 6x9's unless they're $$. then depending the route u wanna go maybe simplicity on install?
it snowballs pretty quick but u can get a simple system to sound good if you know what sound you are after....just remember that it's personal, what a salesman or a friend likes may not be for you as well as the direction(rear, front, balanced) |
