I will be doing the same, well hope to. I don't know if my wheel/tire protection plan will cover me putting on a different size tire on the back.

Wasn't the 1le set up for a squared tire? Would 305 rears affect the handling?

as GM took a lot of time and effort to make the best N/A track car for the money. I just hate the look of the rear tire being stretched out. Who knows I may just end up with the same squared set up. I have a little way to go as I'm only at 5k

So why the wider wheel?

Cosmetic (not so stretched), and to get a bit more traction. These spin much easier than the P-zero's I had on my non-1LE

I meant why does GM put a wider wheel on the 1LE with a 285 if it makes no performance difference? They didn't do it for styling. They could have simply put four equal tires and wheels if there was no performance gain. |

The performance advantage comes from the square tire setup, to help reduce understeer. I can't see any performance advantage to pairing an 11" wheel (instead of a 10" wheel) with a 285 tire. I'm guessing we have the 11" rear wheels because it was easier for GM to just reapply the ZL1 wheel setup.

They probably do the same setup for a parts bin setup. They dont want to build a 10" rear with a different offset when they can get a way with stretching a tire over it.
