Holy shit, I am just speechless, I am a diehard to the very end Chevrolet more specifically Camaro fan.
After following the ZL1(Used to be Z28) development for 2 years now, I am totally shocked that on the ZL1 specification and price release day, GM gets clearly outdone by the a another newer GT500. This is the first year for the ZL1 GM, it should be the uncontested champion. Ford has been beating Camaros since 2003 with the release of the 4.6L "Terminator" Cobras. It has been 10 years that I have been waiting for a Camaro to be able to best the top Mustang...10 YEARS GOD DAMMIT!! I'm sorry, I am trying to express my feelings the best I can. With enthensiasts so dedicated to the cause, this is no longer competition, this is war and loosing is simply not an option. The ZL1 name is associated with the factual most powerful engine of the almighty muscle car era making the 69 1969 Camaros and 2 1969 Corvettes equipped with it the Gods of an era dominated by kings. If this name is to be resurrected, it better be for a damn good reason. FIX this GM, Please. Loyal enthusiast.

Seriously don't see why people think throwing horsepower at something is going to make it better.

Honestly, I think the price range is adequate, considering like it was mentioned "Performance car at Sports car price". Surely the cost is expected to raise after dealer markup, but it would be worth its (personal) value in the end. A car may have a cash value, but a personal value is more important than any price tag. The only thing I was surprised to not see in the news is the price of the Carbon Edition. Why was it not mentioned? I was planning on getting that edition after they work out any leftover kinks, for what I consider to be a prototype. Seriously, am I the only one that noticed this, or did I miss something? All is possible.

So when are all the finalized prices, options and everything, coming out? My dealer said It's not on the website that dealers use for price, the Chevrolet Order System yet.

It's not like the ford has 10 more horse. We are talking about 70 horse in a lighter car. You watch GM try to spin this, it will be funny. Like my previous post stated, this is the ZL-1, top dog in the Camaro food chain. On opening day we get trumped? OMG!! Silver lining will be, these cars will be sitting on the dealer lots after the 1st run and maybe we can get some deals... -Bobby

As I have stated before the 750BHP GT500 super snake ran a 0-60 in 4.0 seconds (during a same day test) where a 650BHP Camaro ran a 0-60 in 3.7 seconds.
The Mustang just runs into the problem where it really has a hard time putting the power to the ground. Something that the Camaro does exceptionally well and at these power levels its going to come down to that. The more power the faster you have to drive before you can put the power down. This GT500 will likely smoke the ZL1 on the freeway where you are already rolling at some speed however from a stand still I would bet on the ZL1 shining. Also on the drag strip it may even play into that as well and on a road course still might favor the ZL1 as well. What we do know about the ZL1 is that it is setup to do every performance parameter really well. With 1.0G on the skid pad that is impressive that would put in in Boss 302 territory (.98G in Motor Trend test). For a heavy car that "can't handle" it sure showing other wise just as I predicted give it a few years as they learn how to tune this car. My bet is that the ZL1 in the hands of tester will get as follows. 0-60: 3.7 1/4mile: 11.8 |

Here is another one to bold..
I have a funny feeling the ford is going to be quicker around the ring. Although the ZL1 should beat it around the ring with the mags etc. I really feel ford did thier homework on this one, and caught GM being like old GM. -bobby
