I found it well worth it. Doing paint properly isn't that cheap either and in my case only lasted a few years. Over time the racedeck will be cheaper.

When I built my shop I used Ucoatit epoxy with the flecks and clearcoat. It worked REALLY well, I didn't have any fading or chipping at all (I prepped really well). Their website has a lot of info.

i used the garage floor paint from Lowe's, works great...took me most of a nice sunny saturday...made sure the floor was extra clean...i washed it like 3 times with a good rinse between...then used the etching and pretty much followed the instructions...then applied the paint and let it cure over nite...worked out great...garage looks great, have drywall walls painted them white with an orange accent wall for my orange/black RS/2SS...woot...he loves it in his nice clean space...anyway...2 years and the paint looks great...they will tint it any clor u want i had mine tinted a light grey and the kit comes with the "Sprinkles" for accent...looks nice and i can wash it down in like 5 minutes nice for working on as well. just my nickle worth.

the ONLY epoxy flooring you should be using is a 100% epoxy. No water, no oil, no solvents. Wolverine coatings are the best on the market. I grind metal, weld, solder, drop wrenches. ZERO issues

I used the epoxy from Home Depot over 5 years ago and it has held up very well.

The trick is that you have to clean and etch the surface. If yours came up in a year, the surface was not prepared properly. Common causes are not allowing the floor to dry after you etch. It takes a full day at 80 degrees. Failutre to degrease. And last, not etching at all or improper;y. Etching has to be worked aggressivvely into the surface. You cannot just brush it on and hose it off, you have to work it around.

For those of you with racedeck, do you hear the racedeck moving around under your feet when walking over it?

A little bit at the beginning until it settles in. Nothing after a while.

When I used to sell and install RaceDeck, the noise from walking on it seems to depend on the condition of the concrete. The smoother the concrete was, the more likely it was to make noise when walking on it. For the 2 customers of mine that this bugged, we pulled up the RaceDeck and laid down the same plastic/foam underlayment material used for in home laminate wood flooring. Worked great!
