I didn't realize how bad the shudder had gotten. Tranny shifts smoother in 1,2,3 and accelerating around 50+ is free of the running over rumble strips feeling.

Now the real question is how long will it last and how long will it take GM to come up with real solution not a bandaid.

Here is my invoice. You guys see anything on it I missed in my hurry to GTFO there.

How come they didn't replace the filter when they flushed the trans fluid? Also the part number is strange, when the dealership did mine, they put 19355656 in along with filter p/n 24274402...

Because the TSB Chevrolet put out on 10/11/18 that stopped paying for TC replacement tells them to only change the fluid, not the filter.

Ah, I see, makes sense. Still not sure why the dealer used a different fluid for your trans, I thought that part number was the old Dexron HP fluid that is specifically no longer recommended for the A8. This issue is getting murkier by the day, can't wait to hear what GM's long term solution will be.

This is unbelievable... Seems every season I take the car out it begins with a trip to the dealership. Of course, I then have to fight with the dealership, multiple trips to the dealership, record keeping, etc. It is embarrassing and aggravating. Yes, my car has already began to shutter again. If I can, I will trade it in the spring.

Knowing my dealer, they used the wrong fluid instead on the new Mobil 1 spec fluid.

Confirmed Friday with 23,000 miles on the car. Goes in this week for the first flush and then see what happens after that.

1SS Convertible, May 2017 Build date.

19K - first time I noticed the shudder; had the trans flushed soon after under warranty.
21K - shudder problem reoccurred. I will be taking the car back to the dealer for a second flush or TC replacement.

It's pretty sad that a car with under 30K has powertrain issues. I know others have experienced this issue with a lot less miles as well. Hopefully the new "fix" coming in 2019 truly addresses this issue.

Got it just after 15,000 miles. Very frustrating. I was already taking my car in because I have continued to have one issue after another with the infotainment center. It has been replaced, updated I don't know how many times, and now getting a new amplifier to hopefully fix the random issues with it. Now I'm having to leave it longer to get the flush done as well. Think I'm done with GM vehicles after I pay this one off. First new car and constant issues. Miss my 99 Trans Am. I should've kept it.

5000 miles on my 17 and the shudder started last week. Dealer had to order the correct fluid for the flush, I guess they can’t keep the fluid in stock with all of the flushes that they are doing. I have little faith that this is the long term fix, I hope they fix it in 19.

Took mine in today to drop it off for the shudder. I guess it was the manager that came over and stopped the guy writing it up and said you can't do the flush. I was like what? He said they just got an order from GM saying do not do anymore flushes due to it isn't working or not for long anyway. They said they aren't suppose to do anything now until GM tells them something else in early 2019. Just not cool. So I'm supposed to just drive it for months like it's falling apart and shaking and not even a temporary solution. Really think I'm done with GM after this car is paid for.

I've Got It

Picked up my 2018 SS1 from the dealer in June and have been following these posts about the A8 problems since July when my problems started. I finally decided to register and voice my frustration and hopefully let GM see this is a very widespread problem that must be fixed. I'm very disappointed that GM has not been able to come up with a real fix. My shudder started about a month after delivery at about 1,500 miles. I really enjoyed the first month of driving but am enjoying it less and less each day. Took it to the dealer in August and they did the flush. The shudder came back a few days later. Although it's not as bad yet, it is slowly getting worse. I know it will be a matter of time before it gets unbearable again. I haven't been back to the dealer yet because I don't want another band-aid and more mechanics tearing apart my brand new car. Here it is October and I've also been noticing the differential groan for the first few turns each morning when cold. What's next? I'll probably take it in soon for some more band-aids since who knows when the promised 1st Quarter 2019 fix will actually be released. Come on GM, January 2nd would be nice...
